it works, but i have questions about proper procedure using these
ok, this thing comes in two colors, the blue anodized looking body and the one i got was a red anodized body in a red case. It's the same thing though and i dont mind the red, but just thought i'd throw that out. Other then that, this made in china gauge kit isn't bad, the body (red/blue) part with the clear view window is pretty heavy, not sure what type of metal but it's heavy duty. The gauges are probably the weak point, they look a little flimsy but they work, and are enclosed in like a thin rubber shield (the blue part that surrounds it). The cables are pretty standard, i think 1/4"? They state 5/16 but the standard can valve taps fit. I had to get a standard tap that has a screw top because the one that comes with the kit mounts on the can, not screw on the top. But in CA, they have these new can adapters so the can reseals and can be used over and over instead of i guess the old cans that will release to the atmosphere once you unhook the can. Anyways, so in CA you need this small plastic adapter that screws on top of the can now (interdynamics sells one for a few bucks) and then you screw on the a standard r134a can tap to that. Anyways, if you're not in CA probably dont have to worry about this and the provided tap might still work for you. So now, at first I wanted to just check pressure on both low high side. So i shut the two valves high/low at the gauge side, i opened (unscrewed out) the two connector side valves (which means gas wont come out) and then connected them to the high low side connectors. i started the car, then slowly screwed in the two connector side valves to push the shrader valves to open them. I got good but slightly low readings. So with the two connectors isolated meaning the top valves are still closed, i thought i could just close off the valves and pop them off like i see on youtube videos. But i'm not sure if this is just this kit or all kits work this way? But the pressure on the red line is so high, you can't pop off the connector. You then have to lower the pressure, and you dont want to just leak it out of the yellow side, as you might introduce air accidentally and it's illegal to do so. Well, i figured that i would open the top red valve to let some of the pressure into the area where the glass gauge is and slightly open the blue while it's running to reintroduce it back into the system. I have closed off the shrader high side connector valve so no more compressed fluid is coming back through the red line. Now i just bled the r134a that was in the red line back down into the blue side very slowly, just barely opening and closing the top gauge side blue valve, while i did that i noticed the that stuff was flowing over to the blue side in the small window and the connector was starting to get looser, like i could rotate it now. a few more minutes and i got the pressure low enough and then was able to pop it off. Is this normal? Does the red always go high pressure then you have to bleed it off? All the youtube videos i watch nobody does this and just pops off the connectors, so at first i was wary of the connectors in this kit, but i dont see any difference from these connectors and ones i see on higher priced kits. Anyways, as a standard ac gauge kit, i'm gonna give it a 4 stars for now as yes, they work and they look better then some of the other kits that look made cheaper and the body isn't even a sold block of metal like these are. For most people you will need (or want) to buy a cheap brass r134 can tap ( got the koyzvacu and works great), usually about 8 bucks here. For CA people, look for r134a can adapters from interdynamics which is just a blue plastic piece that screws on the can, should be like 2 bucks. Anyways, if i can verify the procedure of releasing pressure off the high side, and it's not any fault of this kit, i will rate it a 5 star kit as it's fairly complete kit and solid body like the more pricey kits.update: ok i just tried this gauge kit on another car, again high side red valve stuck so hard with the high pressure fluid inside, again, had to close valve at the high side connector, then slightly open the red side gauge side valve, then cracked the blue side gauge valve to let the r134a back down into the blue side, and do this super slowly, i'm sure you can damage the low pressure side by just letting high pressure in, so i trickled it in, opening and closing the blue gauge valve in small steps, and got the pressure down. But what was interesting was pressure down almost to 0, and i still couldn't disengage the high side connector. I now think that with the red side connector valve closed, that pressure slightly trickles out of the shrader valve when you close it, and still generated some pressure in the now closed red side, while it's not high pressure, it's still enough to hold the connector. So i had to screw in slightly on the red side connector valve, to again let some pressure out to the yellow line, since it was already near 0. Then i was able to pop it off again, procedure is getting easier once i did it a few times. So dont freakout if your high side valve gets stuck. Just remember not to let air into your system and work the valves accordingly. I'm just wondering how the kits with just the quick connectors without the open close valves comes off for people, i mean you can slowly bleed out of the yellow i guess for those people but will make the process even more complicated. i will give the kit a 5 stars for now then for the price as the connectors are doing their job and hold the gas. I now got two cars air conditioners within their pressure ranges and blowing cold air again. Oh and a bonus, you get the red screwdriver looking tool that removes schrader valves if yours is leaking.

Nice to have everything in a case all together
This is a nice set up, however, the adapter to connect to a can of R-134 does not fit the new style cans. I tried using the adapter I had but the thread size is different than the hoses provided. I had to steal some fittings off an old set and rig up my own adapter.

It’s not what I order to charge my ac unit for the house I need the right one
My gauges say R134 don’t know how to read for R22 . It’s not anything like the pictures of the product. I just now had time to look at the product I received
