Q: Can this be mounted on a ceiling? Can it interconnet with BRK mains smoke alarm?

I brought the unit to replace the one which was in the flat as it had expired. Ours is mounted on the ceiling in the kitchen to answer your first question. I wouldn't know the interconnet with BRK mains smoke alarm, but i believe our is linked with the smoke alarm in our hallway. Q: I need to change the battery. Does anyone know what kind of screwdriver I can use - I'm having trouble finding a suitable head

I used a small screwdriver from a glasses repair kit, as the screw is pretty small. Also be aware the unit has a life span of a few years, so replacing battery might not resolve the issue of it going off by itself. If happening to you.
