Replacing my old one
Now I've had my original brew and go for about 5 years. It has worked PERFECTLY all that time. It still works perfectly. I lost the mug and was looking for a new one and they all seemed to cost 10 bucks - so Amazon had the whole new thing for 10 bucks and no shipping (prime) and I said - hey - might as well buy a whole new thing for the price of a mug. And I did- I've made about 5 cups of coffee with the new one - so far no problems. The coffee grounds problem I've never had - BUT - I never use the permanent filter. 1) according to research the paper filter removes some carcinagen that the permanent filters do not - so I use the paper. 2)I buy NUMBER 2 unbleached filters from Melita - buy 100 pack. Prhaps it is their size that prevents the grounds from flowing over, but I never have that problem. I love my brew n go - love it! Perhaps I'll have problems with my new one - perhaps B&D quit making it and that's the problem. I'll let you know in a few months. (at which time, if there's a problem I'll bring out my old one) p.s. I normally brew my coffee into a regular mug for drinking at home. And a HUGE regular mug will fit under the drippy thing. p.s. 2 I like my coffee strong and I never have a problem with getting it nice and strong with two scoops of coffee per mug. (but I do grind my coffee myself) That's all - hope it helps you make a decision. May 2 follow up - been using it for 5 months now. Still makes great coffee! Still have no problem with grounds in my coffee, and I started using 3 scoops, per Alton Brown. I did have a problem pouring water in the resovoir that I didn't have with my old one - but I just use a measuring cup now, and things are fine. I've read other people say it tastes like plastic - never had that happen or that the water is too cool - I make mine from the water in the fridge and it is still a piping hot cup of coffee - as long as you drink it right away. If it sits it cools down rapidly because it has no heat source, just as if you had poured it and let it sit. I got mine really cheap - but I'd have paid more for it. The end!

perfect coffee maker
I had a BIG K-cup coffee maker that was dying after 3 years of daily use. The coffee was too expensive in the little K-cups so I was using it with the filter and ground coffee. When it was time to be replaced I knew I just wanted a coffee maker that used regular coffee and not the K-cups. When I was searching I found several makers that fit the bill. I chose the Black and Decker for a few reasons: uses ground coffee, has a permanate filter, came with a travel mug, trusted product name, compact size and brews varied sizes of mugs and travel cups. I love this coffee maker! I am the only person in my household that drinks coffee and the compact size is perfect for my coffee machine. It is not in any bodies way. It is easy to use and the coffee flavor is great. I really like the clean up being so easy too. I would recommend this one cup coffee maker to any one looking for a basic machine and has little space to store one. My only complaint would be that it is slower than the big machine. The price was really easy on the pocket book and it will be interesting to see how long it lasts. I went from 2 cups per day to 3 because the coffee just tastes better and I would buy another one when its time to replace this one. I hope this helps...

Works well
I bought this item after reading the multitude of reviews, as the good outweighed the bad. I'm glad I did, it works well for what I bought it for. In an attempt to cut back on coffee, I bought this machine for my office, and it has achieved the desired results. I had a 10 cup coffee maker before I bought the B&D Brew 'n Go, and it was difficult for me to make 2 cups. I can now make one generous sized cup of coffee without waste and it is extremely easy to clean up when it's time to go home. No pot or basket to wash! It's not the best cup of coffee I've ever had, but it's good and the convenience is far greater than the small decrease in the quality of the coffee. For those consumers who thought that it brewed "plastic" tasting coffee, I would recommend using a ceramic coffee cup, I use a large one that fits just fine. As long as it's not too tall, I think almost any cup would work. I used the cup and lid that came with the Brew 'n Go once, and I think it is the cup that tastes plastic, not the coffee maker. I also like the fact that the coffee is freshly made each time I want a cup, and there's no drinking coffee that's been sitting on a warmer for an hour (yuch!) It's a little bit noisy when you get to the end of the brew cycle, but unless you work in a very quiet office, it's not annoying. My B&D shuts off after brewing, as promised, and I have not had grounds in my coffee once. If you are a true coffee connoissuer, you may not like this product, but overall, I think it is a very good product and a bargain.

Perfect just for me!
This is a great product if you need a quick cup of coffee. Easy to use, easy to clean, and it brews your coffee very fast. I prefer the metal cup one over this plastic one but, you do not need to use it. Just use one of your favorite coffee mugs as long as it fits underneath the drip. This product is also very light and compact. Common issues would be not putting enough water as some will be evaporated or left in the water reservoir. I like my coffee light so I fill my mug 3/4 full and then there's plenty of room for milk or creamer. It will take a few tries for you to get it just right for you. I have no issues with coffee grinds going through the filter. Clean up is a snap. Just rinse the filter and holder, and empty out the left behind water and leave the coffee lid open to air dry. I highly recommend! =) Enjoy.

I had strict criteria for switching to a new coffee maker after spending years making strong coffee using a stove top espresso maker. This unit is perfect and met all of my expectations and at a very reasonable price. I'm in love with this little unit that gives me a decent cup of coffee with no fuss, no muss. My criteria for selecting this model: 1. It had to be VERY compact, with a small footprint. No big clunky stuff. 2. No pods!! I had to be in control of what coffee blend I used, how strong I wanted my coffee and how fine the grind of the beans. 3. It had to be really easy to make a quick cup of coffee that tasted great - just one cup at a time. 4. It had to be really easy to clean. 5. The brew needed to be the right temperature, meaning it had to be hot but not so hot that I could not drink it immediately.

The coffee maker we have at work makes a full carafe, sometimes I just want one cup, so after searching I decided on Black & Decker Brew 'N Go Coffeemaker and I have no regrets. It comes with a reusable cone shape filter. There is a simple slide up on/off button. I ran it twice with plain water to clean it prior to making the first cup of coffee. I never noticed any strange odors. I use hot water from the water heater/cooler and this little machine makes a perfect cup. It makes a regular size cup of coffee, if your mug is too big it won't fill it to the top. I haven't used the included travel mug so no comment on the cup.
