Cate Blanchette was perfect as Maid Marion. Only complaint brightness could have been better.

Enjoyed it all - love Russell Crowe 💕 and he and Cate Blanchett were perfect together - in fact a wonderful cast all round! Good film! 😊

I love Russell Crowe and obviously would be very hard to beat The Gladiator movie. This is a slightly different take on Robin Hood as it focuses on how he became the outlaw. It has a lot of good action scenes and Russell Crowe as always plays a good leader, but still it was dark in the filming (as in turning up the colour resolution), Maid Marion (love Kate normally), their chemistry for me wasn't quite there. Would I watch it again, hmm no but I enjoyed most parts of it.

I did some research after watching this film. Turns the whole plot is probably a total fabrication (what a shocker.) But who the hell cares? It's a film. Very gritty feel throughout and raises some interesting perennial themes, very pertinent in the face of the contemporary political climate. Nice loathsome bad guy and loveable, if cocky, good guys. Dreadful accents throughout, and no regard given whatsoever to British geography, but again, who the hell cares! Will be watching it again.
