I got this voltage converter for my parents, who recently traveled from Asia to the U.S. They brought some of their appliances with them, and everything worked smoothly with this converter. But what really gives us peace of mind is that when they return home to Asia, they’ll also be able to use the U.S. appliances they purchased here—like a hair straightener, electric toothbrush, and laptop—safely with this same converter. It converts 220V (used in Asia) to 110V with no problems, and the built-in AI chip automatically adjusts voltage and frequency. TL;DR: I have done a lot of research and HIGHLY recommend the DOACE 350W Voltage Converter, sold on Amazon. It is a voltage converter that will ALWAYS output ~120V. I have been testing a lot of other cube-type adapters/converters, and even other converters that look like this one. None of the others have been consistent or have output a safe voltage in my opinion, and those others were all returned back to Amazon. Also, the cord on this device is European but it does come with 4 adapter plugs and a carry pouch! TESTING: I used a Fluke 115 TRMS meter for measurement testing. All testing was done here in the USA with a selectable AC bench power supply. The power supply was 120V 60Hz input and could output 200V, 220V, 230V, or 240V AC in either 50Hz or 60Hz at all voltages mentioned. My testing of this device was consistently 118V output regardless of the input voltage (tested with 120V USA Mains power from the wall, as well as 200V, 220V, 230V, & 240V inputs from the selectable power supply). The DOACE 350W Voltage Converter will ALSO convert frequency. My testing was consistently 60.1Hz output regardless of the input frequency (tested with 50Hz & 60Hz inputs). As advertised, this device can be used with 100V to 240V 50Hz or 60Hz input and always outputs ~120V 60Hz. (I have not yet tested with 100V (Japan) input yet - hopefully I can update this review later once I have a different bench power supply.) NOTE ON LOAD: Load is listed as 350W max on the device (which I have NOT tested loads yet either). Took this on a recent trip to the UK. Instructions are unclear how to plug the two prong cord into the adapter, but because there are only two possible orientations it was a coin flip. It works seamlessly for ac appliances but seemed to charge my IPad slowly on the USB-c connection.
