Way better than some of the cheaper versions
I bought some of these to use as a quick connect on the flush hose for my Yamaha outboard. I had some cheaper versions that were hard to disengage and would leak. This is leak free and is super easy to connect / disconnect while the water is on. Or at least the fitting that has the "stop" built in. Works great.

Just what I needed!
Purchased a water fountain for my dog and did not have the quick connect. Got this one in a few days and it works perfect.

Very Convenient
I have at least 3 of these connectors in use now, and they do work really well. I love that you can disconnect a nozzle or sprinkler without having to shut the water off. It took me longer than I care to admit to realize that I wouldn't get sprayed in the face by just disconnecting. I am much more careful when putting the hose back down on the ground, because the plastic doesn't strike me as being able to withstand a lot of drops. I have also had to re-tighten the adaptor after walking around the yard to water plants. I'm sure eventually all of the twisting and turning can cause the adaptor to loosen. Once I realized why water was spraying out, it was a quick second to tighten it back up. Unscrewing a spray nozzle was pretty easy in the past, but it sure is nice using these quick disconnects when removing an unwieldy sprinkler.

True solution to multiple hoses
This item along with its compatible nozzle is a lifesaver to us with two hoses and living in the hot hot summers in Houston! Being able to easily remove the nozzle to store out of the elements and to move to the other hose is the best!

Good Quality
I needed a good quality unit to attach to my outboard for flushing, I ended up buying multiple sets for 2 different location to flush and wash my boat. These are definitely better quality than any I’ve seen ( I couldn’t use the brass ones as they didn’t fit my flush port space.

not at my local hardware store any more.
First couple of these I got at my local hardware store along with another brand (which one works better) The Melnor couplings are easier to connect/disconnect and have stop valves in them so you do not have to shut off the water when switching between items. I believe my hardware stores quit carrying these, but maybe they just can't keep them in stock. Thank You Amazon for carrying the superior product even after my local shops quit.

Great product, prevents hose connections from leaking.
Love these. I can keep my hose ON all the time, and they don’t leak. I’m totally sold on these Melnor quick-release products. They can be a little confusing, so read and shop carefully to get that you need. THIS item is the basic you need for the end of a hose, or potentially to connect two hoses, so they can be easily disconnected. Also GREAT for older people like me, who have painful or weak hands.

Quality reduction alert, what you see is not what you get.
I bought this expecting the colored version, (as shown online), to match previous ones I’ve bought. But now it’s all black plastic and seems less robust. When I was young, a long time ago, companies were only concerned about quality and it was upon that basis they competed. But now, 60 years later quality is readily sacrificed to the aim of extracting every last cent of profit. Is this progress ? What happened ? Sure we can buy cheaper goods now, but people work twice as long and as hard to gain the means to constantly replace them, as they easily break or are routinely made obsolete.
