The greatest group game ever!!
Werewolves has been the fulcrum for genuine, laugh and shout out loud fun with 8+ friends on many occasions and I could not recommend it enough. At first sight Werewolves is an extremely simple set up. Most of you are villagers, some of you are werewolves who eat the villagers. Work out who is good and who is not before it's too late! Whilst there is a simple story line to set the scene and keep the game moving the fun is really about your ability to lie and to spot the sneaky traits of your friends. Every round you get to vote on who you think the werewolve(s) are. Cue much shouting, cursing, outraged indignation, counter claim and untold brazen lies as you and your friends attempt to shift the focus or defend genuine innocence! There are plenty of extra characters with unique abilities to add as you get comfortable with the concept (a couple of games will do that) and these really do add new dimensions to the play. For any one bored by board games stay right here . . . this is not remotely like the dice rolling, token shifting affair you might glaze over with. This is all about the people you play with and their personalities. The decision for "go on, one more round . . ." is the only thing me and my mates always agree on with Werewolves - just buy it!

Awesome!
Awesome game. I learned to play this game in the Netherlands at my sister's university and thought I should get it and teach my friends in the UK. It is an exciting game that gets you giggling and laughing at the end, especially the accusation part. My friends and I just literally make up any reasons to accuse one of us to be a werewolf, e.g I think you're a werewolf because you're wearing a black t-shirt and werewolves like dark things, therefore you're a werewolf. Being the narrator is quite a difficult job to do but that's what make it fun as well, particularly when we can choose a theme and scenario for the game. It is enjoyable and recommended.

Werewolves - never be without a set!
Have been playing this game for over 20 years. Fabulous for a group of 10-20 people aging from 10 to 90+ yrs. This is a compact set of cards that can be taken anywhere. Our set has travelled on many holidays and also been used in school and Scouts. Great fun and no 2 games are ever the same. TV show Traitors clearly modelled on this. Highly recommend, it gets better the more you play it as people understand the characters and tactics better.

Perfect game for spooky campfire fun
We were introduced to this game by friends in the Netherlands and now it is a firm favourite with my kids when away on holiday and especially when camping, where the dark evenings around the campfire make for a perfect spooky setting for game play and an interactive alternative to the telling of ghost stories. We were lucky to learn the game 'in play' because I can imagine it appears a little confusing to the uninitiated. Even today I suspect we still play a variation of the game with our own slightly modified rules, but this is the kind of game that lends itself to adaptation. Essentially the pack contains a set of cards with various characters which are dealt out to define each players role within the cursed village, acted out in turn under the guidance of the narrator or storyteller. The villagers must try to identify which of their number is a murdering werewolf, while the werewolves must evade detection. It is an elaborate version of 'murder in the dark' with extra logic and bluff thrown in for good measure. I've dropped one star because the game has a few drawbacks. This game is best played in a fairly large group (We've found 7 people or more works, but less becomes difficult to sustain) and is improved by a flamboyant narrator to host proceedings and bring the atmosphere of the game to life. Much of the game relies on trust while players keep their eyes shut during each night in the village, so it isn't a game for very young children who may spoil it for others by revealing secrets of the game play. It goes without saying that those children of a nervous disposition may not want to play a game about murdering lycanthropes...

Full of suspence!
Divine party game! Simple to learn, lots of fun and lots of accusing. "Guess who" theme with added extras for added interest. Play as many character add- ons as you like. Easy set up just sit everyone in a circle and give them one card each the more people the better. Will get many hours of pleasure out of this one! Gotta be top of the list for party game. You do need a storyteller or someone willing to take charge. Without a storyteller theres no game. So exhibitionist character required. You just gotta identify the werewolves before they eat you during the night! Its a blast buy it!!

Smaller than I expected
Pictures seem to show the version with the thick cardboard character cards. I received a box with thin card character cards. Still plays alright, but avoid playing with drunk friends. Other than that, the game is great fun, just make sure you have plenty of people with whom to play

Great for get-togetheres
I bought these for a big family get-together. The age range of the group was from thirteen to over sixty. We had loads of fun with this game and played until the early hours of the morning. It is worth a few people learning how to play it first, as it does seem a bit confusing when you first read the instructions. In fact a couple of the group looked up a video on the internet and took charge of the game. It's really addictive and would be great with atmospheric music and sound effects.

YOU MUST BUY THIS GAME!
I REPEAT YOU MUST BUY THIS GAME! It is brilliant whilst a bit confusing in the initial first game, it became much more clearer, spooky and exciting as further games were played. The minimum you need to play is 8 we played with that number and each game lasts about 10-20 minutes, not long. But we haven't added all the characters into it yet. What I will say though is you're going to need a good narrator as they are the all epicentre of the game, without somebody who can walk quietly and control the group well the game won't go so well, it is there job to keep the suspense of the 'village' intact.

Bought this game after watching a group of 12 or so teens play it intensely for a couple hours. Game has a simple narrative structure: town invaded by werewolves and every night (players close their eyes) the werewolves decide one team member they "kill" who is then out of the game. Everyone "wakes up" and votes someone off the island, so to speak, trying to target the werewolves and rid themselves of them. But since the werewolves look like ordinary friends and neighbors during the day, it becomes tricky to figure out who is mortal and who werewolf. The game itself is a pack of cards which are dealt out all around. Some cards provide special powers (the "little girl" card allows its holder to peek while the werewolves are meeting--but the holder has to be careful not to be caught peeking) and these add to the suspense and intrigue. After we purchased it we played with another family whose kids are the same ages as ours--mostly teens. They have one younger son--about 10--for whom it was a bit of a challenge. He wanted to protect his mom and favorite sister at all costs and wasn't really able to be objective about who might really be a werewolf (his mom). So I think there are age limits on the game. Since we have bought this game, the kids grab it first when they head out to parties at their friends' houses, since it is a big favorite. We have purchased the add-on game, but since the game requires a rather large crowd (8 player minimum)we have not yet had the chance to try it out--only 5 in our family. It appears to make the game a bit more advanced, with additional roles, possibilities, and cards. In looking it over, it seemed it would be perfect for a crowd who had some experience with Werewolves and wanted to ramp up the action. Very fun, entertaining, smart game. If you've got teens in the house--they'll love this.
