Kreg SML-C2X250-30 Protec-Kote Pocket Screws, 2-1/2 Inch #14 Coarse Thread, Maxi-Loc Head (30 Count)

I recently purchased two Kreg jigs for pocket screws. They do not come with screws do I purchased these for use with 2 x 4s. They are very sturdy and I like the nice container they came in.

These worked great when I was assembling my patio table.

These larger screws along with kreg xl jig make rock solid joints with 2 x 4 lumber a cinch . I don’t know what anyone could say negative about these screws.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I just bought the kreg XL jig for 2x4s and 4x4s at HD but they were out of the tan screws. So far I've been using the blue 2 1/2 standard pocket hole screws for my project. They work fine but these screws are more heavier duty. I'm very glad to have these. The jig is very easy to use. You don't need to look up settings. My only critical feedback for the jig is the clamp attachment is useless in my opinion. I just use a quick release clamp on my work piece and jig. I'm very pleased with it.

Screws look well made / too pricey

I've used the Kreg jigs for years, including the longer screws if assembling 2x material. While strong, those connections were not in the same league as framing connectors or a proper nailing schedule. These new HD screws are a substantial step up, and make a connection in 2x, especially at corners, that exceeds nails or even most screws. I'd compare it more to lags bolts or screw-fastened connectors. In fact, it is strong enough that slight issues with saws will become noticeable. My practice project with these was a window seat with storage, and the screws kept pulling the frame a bit out of square. Damned if my miter saw wasn't a degree or so out of true. You may find that waiting to fully tighten these screws until most of a frame is assembled keeps you from mumbling as many invocations. As with the smaller screws, keep in mind that the process does not provide for starter holes in the second piece of material, so if you fasten very close to an edge and experience splitting you'll need to consider making those holes. Fastening the screws part-way will mark that process nicely.The jig works almost just like the original (and the mini), and fits in the stand or on the clamp frame. The difference is it lacks an adjustment for material thickness: this is set for 2x boards. I've yet to try it, but it would likely work fine drilling into a 4x4 or larger post.

If you're building items with 2x4s and 4x4s, you want these screws to use with your Kreg jig HD. Very sturdy results!
