Because the town I live in is small, there is nowhere to get Pho. The closest place is over 60 miles away, so, I started making my own at home. This Pho broth is so good though I wish it had stronger anise flavor. Better to have a pre-prepped food that is less salty as this one is, I add salt to it. I put some of the broth on my dogs' dry kibble, he backed away from it, wouldn't touch it. That's okay, more for me plus he won't beg for it when I'm eating. It's very handy that the Pho broth is sold as six separate cartons. I can satisfy my Pho cravings easily.

The package suggests it not be diluted but this tastes much better at half-strength (which makes it a bettr value). I'm using it as sipping broth and even at half-strength it is full of protein. With other ingredients, why not let them shine!

Calling this “pho” broth is a stretch. It doesn’t taste of any of the signature pho spices. It’s a decent beef broth at best.

I live near San Jose, CA. We have the largest population of Vietnamese people of anywhere in the US. We have REAL pho everywhere! Having said that, one must understand that pho is not just the broth, but the other additions which make it an authentic soup experience. This broth helps you create that at home. Of course it’s not going to taste like “real” pho, but what would that be, exactly? Northern style, with wider noodles? Or southern, with narrower rice noodles? Hell, we have even seen pho prepared with udon wheat noodles, and that’s not traditional at all, but still delicious! It’s really all about what you make of it. We use the broth to cook the noodles, then add very thinly sliced roast beef, mung bean sprouts, basil, some sliced jalapeño, Huy Fong sriracha, and a good dollop of hoisin sauce. It’s not like restaurant quality, but who wants to spend hours simmering, skimming, straining, spicing to get that genuine pho broth flavor? This broth is pretty darn good, and makes a very tasty and comforting bowl of soup. The price for the 6-pack is competitive with supermarket pricing or perhaps actually beats it, that is, if you can even find it on your store shelves!

The beef was very pungent the taste of the artificial flavors was there you can tell how dark it is, once I dressed it up it became better to my liking. I had beef pho from the restaurant which is why I believe I did not enjoy this pho that much. I give it 6/10 in taste 7.5 after the condiments were added.
