Solid mid range gaming TV
The TCL 50Q6C-UK is an impressive 50-inch 4K Smart TV that punches above its price class. Its QD-Mini LED panel delivers vibrant colours, deep contrast, and excellent brightness thanks to advanced local dimming and quantum dot technology, making movies, shows, and games look sharp and engaging. With a 144 Hz refresh rate and responsive motion handling, this TV is great for fast action content and smoother visuals overall. The built-in Google TV platform gives easy access to all your favourite streaming apps like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, and YouTube, plus voice control with Google Assistant. Audio performance is decent with Dolby Atmos support, though serious home cinema enthusiasts might still want a separate soundbar. The design is slim and modern, fitting well in most living rooms or mounted on the wall. Overall: A solid mid-range choice if you want a bright, colourful picture, smooth performance, and smart features without paying top-tier TV prices.

Fantastic quality TV for an amazing price.
So I got the 55Q6C-UK QD-Mini LED model, and I have to say it's by far the best TV I've owned in terms of picture quality. Image Quality - All video, both HD & 4K are noticeably clear, crisp, with great colours and contrast. And it's the contrast that's important as the blacks are much deeper and bright parts are brighter when compared to older TV models I had. When using 4k HDR this is especially noticeable and it begins to approach OLED levels. I believe this is due to the QLED combined with the micro-LED used for local dimming. Operating System - Google TV is great as you have so many apps available. And this TV has a processor that runs google TV nice and fast. Definitely recommended for the price. It feels like you'd need to spend double this money with 'premium' brand to get teh same quality.

Great TV, amazing value for money
The 55-inch QLED Mini LED TV is a great choice if you want a big, sharp screen without spending a fortune. The picture is bright, colorful, and clear, even in daylight, and the deeper blacks make movies look more cinematic. The slim design also makes it look sleek in the living room. Sound is decent for everyday use, though a soundbar will give you a better experience. The smart features are easy to use and let you jump quickly between streaming apps. Overall, it’s a solid TV for movies, sports, and gaming, offering excellent value for its size and quality.

Almost perfect. Almost.
After going through five TVs since December, my hopes of ever finding one I both liked and that didn’t have significant defects were low. Just had this delivered today and I’m happy to say I think I’ve finally found a keeper. I hesitated buying another TCL as most of my recent rejects have been theirs, however the specs vs the price of this unit made it hard to resist at least giving a chance. Happy to say I’m finally satisfied - a crisp and clear picture, no significant light bleed or banding issues, handles my Xbox Series X beautifully. Even 1080p Netflix streaming looks wonderful scaled up. The only reason I haven’t given five stars is that there is a very slight arrow-shaped blemish near the centre of the screen, possibly damage done in shipping. However it is really only noticeable on a completely white screen (I did my diligence with uniformity tests right out of the box after my previous issues), and during both the game and movie I’ve tested (Control and Kpop Demon Hunters respectively), it is basically invisible. If I’d not done the tests right out of the box I might not even have noticed it and you’d be looking at a 5-star unit. Even still, a 55” 4K mini-led with full 144hz gaming support under £400 is incredible value.

Fantastic entrypoint 144hz VRR Gaming Mini-LED TV
TCL have managed to create a 144hz variable refresh rate TV with the latest gaming monitor technology from AMD, but for much less than their rivals. This TV has the performance and specs of a much more expensive TV from other suppliers, TV specs equivalent at this price point is 60hz, LED, maybe Q-LED or NED at best, not much in the way of gaming support if any. The Mini-LED looks great, great blacks and vibrant colours with quite a few settings available for tweaking, once set up to your liking the picture is fantastic, a genuine leap from my 2018 LG model that cost the equivalent at the time. Bloom is less than some other TVs and this model has a new back panel that improves the picture from previous generations, overall I think it's great, but at this price it's incredible. Dolby vision and Dolby Atmos is supported, as is HDR, filmmaker mode is quite good to use for movies. Sound is average for a TV, it's perfectly usable on its own, a soundbar would improve performance in the bass and voice I think, options are good for tweaking, there's an option (surround sound) to remove most of the crowd noise in sports for instance. Gaming support is very very good, AMD VRR and 144hz, this TV will allow the highest refresh rate for a PS5, this is the cheapest TV I could find with these features. Attaching a PC or Rog Ally, it will allow the variable refresh rate to increase and decrease with the game, making it much smoother and reducing judder. There is also apparently a mode that will allow 288hz @ 1080p for ultra high refresh rate FPS games. There are a few gaming options that come up in a Gamesmaster mode that you can activate. Overall the support for gaming is amazing and even more so at this price. This is a Google TV and its operating system and menus are really intuitive, fast and the best experience I've had with a TV. It doesn't have freely as an app unfortunately, but it does have the main streaming services and curates these on your TV, creating a good level of seamless integration across the different platforms. You also have the Google Playstore at hand, so you have the widest selection of apps straight away too. AirPlay is very good, works very easily. Quick menus are customisable so you can turn off shortcuts to settings or inputs you don't use and priorities the ones that you do, this makes it easy to quickly adjust the brightness or sound. It's very light compared to my old TV, back is plastic, stand is plastic, I've put it on the wall though. Installation was easy enough but my existing bracket didnt reach all 4 holes on the back. It comes with a warranty but make sure you take a note of the serial number on the back before attaching it to the wall. The remote is very nice, no backlight but a good google button the middle that works very well for searching and two great quick menu buttons for inputs, apps and settings that are customisable. TV remote works so well with an Alexa fire stick I've not bothered using the fire remote. Overall this is a fantastic TV with amazing gaming support that would cost £700 I would think for mini led and 144hz VRR, reviews have said it rivals their Oled at times and I've got to say it's a big improvement on the 2018 LG model selling for the equivalent money back then. For me this TV is the perfect entry point for anyone with a gaming system that supports higher than 60hz or has VRR.
