This is an excellent lamp. I bought it for a friend who does model painting. She needed something for intricate small models. I borrowed it to use for some adult coloring pictures that had very fine lines. It really helped.

Unlike many lamps of this type, the Tomsoo is made with a relatively heavy metal base rather than plastic. Big points for that and the quality construction! The base weighs enough to make the lamp quite stable, another plus. The flexible neck is also metal. Light is provided by ring of LEDs in the head, which also has a flip-up cover that allows access to the magnifying glass. The magnifier works quite well, and the lamp is very useful for working on projects or hobbies with small parts. The on-off switch on top also functions as a dimmer, so the amount of light can be adjusted as needed.A clamp-on base is include with the lamp, so it can be clamped to a table or workbench as needed. The LED ring does not look like it is user-replaceable. I don't think that will ever be an issue, as LEDs generally last a very long time. All in all, a great deal for the money as far as I am concerned.

This desk lamp is outstanding for the price. It is very sturdy with the regular base and can be adjusted right where you want it. Really good for crafting, sewing or anything that requires steadiness and magnification that you can just look through without squinting or constant adjustment. The dust cover opens back far enough that it does not flop over when positioning the lamp low to the work surface. The round base is a pretty good size to keep the lamp sturdy when using it, but product comes with a wonderful clamp on that works well too. Magnifying is at a high level and overall I cannot believe how great this thing is for the price!!

I am very happy with the magnifying lamp, as indicated by many other reviewers, the base though fairly heavy is nit heavy enough to allow bending the magnifier very close to the desk. I just put a small box under the lamp to raise the work surface up to the lamp instead of bending the lamp to the work surface. I also tried placing a heavy 12V battery on the base which also worked to solve the problem. I love the adjustable LED lighting level, and the optics of the magnifier are perfect fo my needs. One additional nice touch is the magnifier lens cover which will help keep the lens clean. One other surprise was that the lamp uses a 120VAC/USB adapter for power, not a problem at all, just a surprise. All said this lamp is a GREAT buy, and I would highly reccomend it.

As someone that does a lot of close work, this light is amazing! I love the dimming switch so that I can set the light intensity. The goose neck is very flexible so that I can position it to suit my needs. I also appreciate the strong magnifying lens that gives me a clear view of my work. I bought this just for close work but I can see a lot of other applications that I could use it for besides close work. I can see using the light to do plumbing work under a dark sink, or automotive work under the dashboard. I'm a hands on kind of gal, so this light will get a lot of use, between home repairs, car repairs, and crafting. I highly recommend this light and the shipping was very fast. A highly recommended seller! Happy, happy, camper! :o)

The only "Con" if one could even call it that..is that at certain steep angles the little 'trap-door' that flips down to make the light a lamp will fall. A piece of tape can remedy this to hold it if you even use it at that angle..Pros: The perfect size..5X magnification, the variable brightness adjustment is top notch for different types of work. The heavy steel base keeps it in place, as I've not had to use the optional clamp yet..great for working on small things, not just for my Drones but I work on very small carburetors as well as many other small items that typical strong reading glasses can't compete. The key is Light, and this has plenty to spare! I would recommend to anyone needing a magnifier for a good price.

This is a pretty good light. I only have one gripe about it and it is it doesn't swivel.I tried to make room on my workspace so I took the base off of the lamp. The light is pretty good to work by, the spread isn't very wide.It is a pretty good lamp but doesn't quite fit my needs. The magnifying glass is adequate but it is fixed, so you have to bring the lamp to where you can see to use the magnifying glass. I do a lot of close work and this didn't help resolve my issue.This would make a nice lamp to give off light in a room but you have to be pretty close to it if you want to read or do crafts.I wouldn't recommend this for modeling stuff unless you are really young and have really good eyes. I wear a jewelers visor and I find the visor hitting the lamp frequently when I'm trying to paint.

There are a lot of choices when you search for a magnifying desk lamp. I made the right choice purchasing this lamp.I spend a lot of my free time crafting various artsy projects. I needed something to help with seeing detail work.Tomsoo makes a great lamp and I'm very happy with my purchase. This lamp is a perfect size and has a clean & crisp lens. The light is very bright & works well with colors (ie. it dose not change color hue). The unit is mostly metal construction making it very durable. This lamp is an excellent value for the price and is money well spent. I highly recommend this lamp.
