Magic Moving Images: Animated Optical Illusions Paperback – March 1, 2007

I bought this for my Daughter and she loved it, in fact I did too... The overlay that comes with it, makes the book images come alive. It's like real magic and great fun. If you are looking for the perfect unique gift for the younger person, this is it! A+++++

Yes, I was surprised at the small size of this book when I received it, but it is still a very cool book. The book includes a tear-out page of clear plastic with an evenly spaced series of parallel black lines; when you slide this tear-out page over the images in the book, it creates an amazing optical illusion of movement. When sliding the tear-out page, be careful to keep the bottom of the tear-out page parallel to the bottom of the page with the image; if the tear-out page is rotated while sliding, it reduces the optical illusion; this may be difficult for young children.This method of creating the optical illusion of movement has been known for a long time, but to the best of my knowledge, this 2007 book is the first book in the past 50 years to use this type optical illusion. Since then, a bunch of "scanimation" and "animotion" books have been released, and these books have the page with parallel lines on each page, and it automatically slides and creates the illusion of motion when the book is opened.I can see this book being desirable by a collector of movable books. If you are buying books for children, you will probably be much happier with the "scanimation" and "animotion" books.

This is a great little book. I have a son with Autism and I bought this book hoping that it would stimulate his mind. He loved it. He tried to grab the images from the pages with his hand. hehe My daughter who is 11 also loved this book. It is very very cool. Like a portable zoetrope. :D

This booklet is small, nevertheless very nice! Often I was happy to present it as a small gift to somebody I like!It is so special because you can see at once how the moving in the pictures works!Nevertheless the images don‘t loose their magic impression!

not as great a book as I hoped for, but my 6yr old liked it for about 5mins until the Netflix went back on. It is more like a booklet instead of a book and no pouch for the lens sheet which I hope doesn't get lost over time.

Interesting and fun. I wish the overlay, that is moved over the pictures, had a pocket to keep it with the booklet.

This little book will have your children mesmerized for hours, that is if they don't have ADA. A nice practical introduction to optical illusions and how our eyes perceive the world around us. Now if they only sold a large hard cover copy.

muy económico y bastante interesante! realizamos un proyecto con esta técnica para cuestiones infantiles y el libro sirvió de maravilla! Recomendable, es importante no perder el acetato de lo contrario perdió el chiste el libro!

Il libretto è molto piccolo ma carino e conforme alla descrizione.

Un librito muy pequeño a la par que curioso. Contiene una serie de ilustraciones compuestas e impresas de tal forma que gracias a un acetato con rayas, puedes conseguir que dichas ilustraciones cobren vida y se muevan. Un regalo original para los mas curiosos.

When this arrived it was smaller than I thought. Then I tried it and oh my, it was brilliant. Very addictive. I took it to my elderly mum when all the family were around and we were fight ver it like kids. So worth getting one.
