Excellent for double coated dogs. Untangles without causing damage to coat like most other brushes
Most brushes damage hair and coat while untangling. The majority of brushes work by "pulling out" tangles by entrapping tangles with tiny balls on the tips of the brush. It is very hard to find a brush without this feature for under 30 bucks. I ordered the "wire pin brush" in size small and it is PERFECT.It gets out tangles and does not damage the coat. My Poms also seem to enjoy their brushing. I came back to order my FOURTH one today because I also like to use on my own long bleached hair and need a brush that will not "pull".- The brush pins are firm enough to get through a thick double coat.- The brush pins don't have those stupid balls at the end that tend to pull and damage the coat- Great compact size and spacing of the needles- Price: this price cannot be beat for steel pins.- Holds up, even with water. I've had this for about one year. (correction, two years as of this update)A couple areas of CAUTION:- The pins ends can feel harsh on skin if you are not gentle (I learned this by using frequently on my own hair, because I do love this brush THAT much!)- It takes out tangles, but if you have a double coated dog, you will still need to use a slicker during shedding season. This brush is not most efficient at removing out dead coat.I read another reviewer complaining about balls at the end of the brush. I have 3 of these. None of them have balls on the end.

Great pin brush for my golden retriever
I was looking to buy a second pin brush for my 85 lb. golden. I guess pin brushes aren't meant for large long haired dogs, but my dog loves to be brushed! He's brushed at least once a day, sometimes twice a day, so his hair is usually slightly tangled but never matted. Otherwise, I think the pins would probably come out. I like this pin brush better than my other pin brush because the pins are a little longer and seems to be a little stronger. During his heavy shedding periods, this brush can hold more shedded hair so you don't have to stop and clean the loose hair out as often. With the longer pins it takes slightly more time to get the hair out of the brush, but by the brush holding more hair, it is probably a push total time wise with my other brush. I will also add that my golden has mostly straight hair and a bathe him once a month using shampoo and conditioner. I have not lost any pins in the new brush, but I have lost 10 pins with my first brush, which is about 7 months old. Update: I also use this brush on my mini Australian shepherd and a cattle dog mix. It’s been months and the brush has not lost any pins!!

Not For A Cat
This brush is quite large. I initially purchased it for my cat but the size was too big. Also the bristles are spaced very far apart. I personally prefer something more dense to capture dog hair. We have 3 Aussies and I could have kept it for them but passed because of that reason. It might be perfect for smaller more inside dogs though.

Balls on the end of pins, Uh-Oh! Beware what you are expecting for long haired dogs.
If you are familiar with pro dog brushes (Christiansen, Vellus) you expect a pin bush to have straight pins, without balls on the end of the pins. The balls make a whole different experience in grooming coated dogs. We use a rake of one or two rows on double coated long hair dogs to pull up the undercoat, with a before and after swiping with the pin brush, which should have long straight pins wo balls on the ends.(I am not sure how such a brush works on short hair dogs. I suspect it is easier.) It is much more common to find a brush with balls on the ends than not. Also, compared to the Vellus, of the same total length, the pins are somewhat shorter.I had hoped to find a cheaper version of Christiansen or Vellus, but alas, this is not it. The pin balls pull the hair and annoy the long hair dogs. Aside frm that the brush is not junky, seems reasonably well made for the money.**Update: I have just started using this brush on the neck, shoulders and chest of a longhaired intact Belgian girl who is ready to shed, and it worked quite well for pulling up undercoat. As the pins have balls you have to use short flip strokes, but it does get the job done pretty well without hurting, raking the shoulder points or skin. So it does have a use! However, spayed dogs with more cottony coats catch in these balls and there is some protest from the pulling.☆In the long run, one of my fav brushes!

Perfect for Pomeranians MASSIVE coat. And does not damage coat like a slicker brush might
Meet Clark Kent (picture). He is my first show hopeful, so I've been super selective with the tools I use on him. This is a GREAT brush for many reasons.- The brush pins are firm enough to get through his thick double coat.- The brush pins don't have those stupid balls at the end that tend to pull and damage the coat- This is way better than a slicker brush! Slicker brushes can damage the coat if over used. Slicker brushes tend to pull out excess hair. For a show dog that requires a THICK coat, slicker brushes are not an option- Great compact size and spacing of the needles- Price: this price cannot be beat for steel pins.- Holds up, even with water. I've had this for about one year.Confession time: I've been borrowing my dog's brush so I finally just ordered one for myself. I have long fragile bleached hair. All "human brushes" have those stupid balls on the end of the brush pins. This is far less damaging to my hair. I love using this to brush though wet hair and use for blow drying. Can't go wrong with this one!

Great Brush!
I use it every other day to just comb through my Pomeranian and it works like a treat. I use spray on conditioner and comb it through with this brush. It's quite sturdy and light. Easy to carry and doesn't pull when I brush the little one.Highly recommended if you have fluffy dog.

Brush with 2 extra pin holes
Took a while to arrive. Weirdly the brush has 2 pin holes without actually having pins in them. Good quality brush for double coated breeds.

This is the best brush ever
This is the best brush ever! I bought one in the UK many years ago and having used it on 2 Bichon Frise it was looking a little worse for wear. I could not find another one anywhere, so tried other brushes but always went back to this one even though it was passed its best. So pleased to have found another one again.
