Towle Living Basic Stainless Steel Hollow Handle Steak Knife, Set of 4

This is a very nice solid weight stainless steel gravy ladle. I bought two of them for serving gravy at Thanksgiving. I have included two photos that compare the Towle ladle to a ladle from another serving set I have. The bowl of the Towle ladle (photo #1, on the right) is more horizontally oval than round and holds just slightly more than the one ounce (30 cc) that my other ladle (photo #1, left) holds. The Towle handle (photo #2, bottom) is slightly longer and has a curved handle as compared to my other ladle (photo #2, top). The curve in the Towle handle keeps it from sliding into the gravy bowl, but feels a little different to me. It is something I will get used to and I am happy with my purchase.

Would have preferred to contact seller privately but did not see a way to do that, so will post here as a review. I took a chance and ordered “Condition: Used - Very Good - Item will come repackaged.” at a very good price, so it does seem shabby to complain. But just thought it should be known that the plastic ties were torn loose from the box and there was no other packing included – just the plastic wrap around the open-top box they were in. So the utensils were thrown all around and scratched against each other. I’m debating whether to keep them since this falls under “you get what you pay for”. But the repackaging was poorly done or possibly the shipping and handling was at fault in this case. If I return, I will definitely reorder because the size and quality of the product is exactly what I was looking for! I gave the giftable rank 1 star, only because of the scratches that apparently took place in shipping.

These serving utensils are large, see scissors in photo for scale. It didn't occur to me to take a photo until after I tried removing the utensils from the package, but the package I received does not have the plastic cover over the front of the box like other reviewers show. I think because of this the utensils do have a few of the tiniest scuffs and scratches that are too small for my phone camera to capture. Other than that, $23 ($29 minus $6 coupon and purchased on Black Friday) for this was a good deal and each utensil feels thick and strong. Time will tell if it gets easily scratched from handling and going through the dishwasher. The included instructions did say to avoid hard water, chloride detergents, and foods that contain chloride (such as salt, mustard, mayonnaise, eggs) as pitting and staining can occur.

These are really nice, a few scuffs on the used/discounted ones, but otherwise in great shape and seem super sturdy but they are definitely larger than typical serving utensils, as some of the other reviews have stated. In the photo I showed side-by-side with a set of serving utensils I just got at IKEA ($8/pair), and also against one of my cooking spoons. You can see these are much closer to the size of cooking utensils. I was aiming for the smaller serving utensils, for better handling and portioning for the whole family during the holidays. The ladle is a winner all around. I'll be keeping this set though since it looks much nicer than serving with cooking utensils. But I think I'll be using the IKEA ones for Thanksgiving.

Another reviewer described them as "comically large," yet I was still surprised & burst out laughing when I saw them.But they're really nice looking (if a bit large) and not unwieldy at all, and I'd much rather them be a bit large than too small. So, 5 stars it is.I should mention that I got them because they had a nice clean, plain look that I knew I could match up with more pieces (I wanted more serving spoons). And I didn't want to spend a fortune on it. I paired them with "(Pack of 6) Solid Serving Spoon Stainless Steel - Mirror Finish for Elegant Buffet Serving" which are smaller but still look nice with these. Since I'll sometimes be using these with chafing dishes, I prefer at least some to be larger to avoid hot handles.I haven't used them yet, but I'll update if experiences change my opinion.

These are HUGE. It's hard to describe how ridiculously large these are. I was looking for large serving utensils and noticed that many for sale on Amazon are too small, so I decided to buy these despite the warning from another review stating that these are comically large.Well, even after reading that review and the measurements, my husband and I still laughed when we opened the package. I attached some pictures with our normal flatware for scale. (The fork and spoon are normal size, not the mini teaspoon size.) I also added a large banana for scale.The ladle is much smaller than the other items.The pie server came with some black tarnish on it that will not scrub off, so that stinks too. Overall, we would not recommend this set.

This serving set appears to be very good quality, attractive, and does include a full variety of serving utensils. My only less than perfect critique is that the utensils are very large. I actually returned them because they were too large for my daughter's needs, but not because they weren't well made or high quality. I had purchased another set, on a whim, at the same time, and that's the set she liked best & kept. I still recommend this set without hesitation!

These are huge. They are very nice, but honestly look weird because of how big they are. I've added a picture with a regular tablespoon, my regular serving spoon, and to the far right, the serving spoon that I just received. I'm sending it back because it is too big. I just wanted another set to scoop rice, potato salad, typical stuff like that and this not only looks silly, but won't fit where I keep my regular serving spoons. It seems to be very nice quality and is packaged great, it just isn't for me.
