Mustang Western Soft Ride Saddle

Wow, Mustang Manufacturing really broke through the market with the best comfortable, quality, cheaper saddle money can buy! I am glad I did my research, paid careful attention to the reviews, and decided to buy this saddle!!! It is made of a material that’s best described as a very thick foam and wetsuit material. It is constructed in Vietnam, and NOTHING is made in China. It is well made and strong – it will last and not fail you! This saddle is so multi-purpose usable its mind blowing! I can use it at 47 years old, 5ft 10in tall and 165 lbs. and so can my 8-year-old (see pics in our size difference!). My larger older kid tried it as well and everyone agrees – it is more comfortable than anything else we have ever used! We are using it on a portly 14.2 hand 27-year-old Rocky Mountain, and he absolutely LOVES how comfy it is and you can tell when ridding him. The stirrups, while plastic; are still very sturdy and comfy. I tried to substitute with my dressage stirrups/leathers and failed miserably – I almost lost my balance in a canter and fell, but it was my fault – I knew the rigging on this saddle would not work with my other stirrups, but I was too stubborn to not test it out LOL On a side note, I would not store this saddle in a very hot or humid environment as there is a lot of gluing involved at the seams and I could see it losing adhesion if left in an extreme climate. I expect this saddle to last 3-5 years with usage 3-4 times per week and I know this would be perfect for a long trail ride; will buy another when it is worn out….. Lastly – my kids that are under 100 pounds can ground mount without saddle slipping, I cannot – it slipped big time when I tried to ground mount! But when ridding it NEVER slipped Anyhow, get this, you will NOT be disappointed

I bought this saddle 5 months ago and it has not disappointed me. I have an Arabian with a short back and it fits him perfectly. I've been riding for 60+ years and wanted something light weight, comfortable and would give me the ability to enjoy the movement of the horse. I ride western but still rode bareback occasionally to keep my leg muscles in shape and preserve my balance. This saddle is everything rolled into one. It is comfortable, provides stability and both my horse and I enjoy our rides. I have done trail riding for most of my riding years and this saddle is extremely comfortable. I enjoy the feeling of being one with the horse each time I use it. This saddle is a value for the money.

Comfy and nice to ride in. Invest in some better stirrups if you choose to ride with the stirrups and not remove them. If you are a bigger or older rider that can’t mount light and quick you must use a mounting block. The saddle is not a saddle that one can hold onto when mounting it will slip as it just lightweight foam.

I bought this saddle hoping to build up my core and muscles again so that I can ride bareback (it's been 41 yrs since I rode seriously). It's perfect!!! I bought a belly-strap for it and it stays in place but allows me to remove the stirrups and still have confidence as I get used to riding again. I hate saddles and never used one when younger, but I'm 58 now and cautious about falling. After using it for a couple weeks I have been slowly riding bareback again!!! And it's so much easier to carry and put on our horses too! No blanket needed either. I love it! My only issue is that I should have ordered the smaller size as the 16-17" seat is a bit big for me. I would have returned it for the 14-15" seat except that I'd already used it and didn't want to part with it.......LOL

Novice riders....bought 2. Husband found uncomfortable. I loved comfort, and ease of use. However, saddle rotates very easily. Can be dangerous for us novice riders!

I highly recommend after my saddle search saga for my hard to fit gelding! My 14.3, 5yo quarter horse has a short back and extremely wide barrel. He had a pretty bad saddle sore on his right shoulder from his previous owner (😡) when I first got him and the scar tissue still bothers him today when a traditional saddle digs into it. I've been through countless saddles and he has always crow hopped or objected... today I got my bareback saddle pad and tried it moments later... he had no issues and was a complete gentleman! It was also super comfortable for me too. I am 5'9" and the 16/17 fit both me and my husband who is 6' tall. I would say if you're in between sizes, go to the 16/17 because I have always normally ridden a 15. I really hope this lasts, because this just made my whole year and I look forward to using it every day.

This saddle is great. I did a lot of research before choosing this one. I ride in a roping saddle most of the time and do a lot of that country in Cal work but I absolutely love riding bareback around our summer Lake and trails but wanted stirrups and a tiny bit of structure to a bareback pad so I can go longer distance easier. And absolutely didn’t want to have to have a rigid tree inside. The saddle is easily mountable from the ground if the rider is not overweight and athletic enough to actually get your boooty directly in line and under your knee instead of behind it. I personally just use a log, rock or step to get on and use the stirrups so I can post long distance and still feel bare back and get the extra work out. I’ve owned this saddle all summer and have loved It. It’s put together very well! Some people say the stirriup straps and mounts are bulky under the fender flaps but I honestly can’t notice it at all. What I appreciate most is that the stirrups are actually balanced and mounted correctly underneath your body so you can get the right position to go long distance and 3point. Some bare saddles like this they put the stirrups too far forward so that the straps are not underneath the leg but that incurs horrible overall balance. I highly recommend this one. Love it 👌🏻
