This is THE one!
This is hands down the best decision I've ever made for my cat! We were preparing for a move of over 1000 miles and I could not bear the thought of transporting her that distance in her hard plastic carrier. She is a well behaved, very calm animal until the plastic carrier comes out. She then turns into a demon cat and also shows her hatred of the thing by urinating and defecating while inside. Some of that is due to fear - she dreads being taken anywhere (especially the vet) and her reactions have become stronger the older she gets. So, I was really nervous about the road trip.Enter the "Happy Cat" carrier! This thing is roomy, soft, and provides her a feeling of privacy and security while still allowing viewing access and fresh air from 4 openings. I love the option of just the screen, which zips, or the privacy shades, which velcro down over the screens. She took to this right away, and began sleeping in it at home as I was packing (see photo!) When it was time to leave for our trip, she was very calm about being put into the car. There was a bit of difficulty in figuring out how to secure the carrier in the car seat with the seatbelt, but we got it done.My cat slept pretty much the entire way for the first leg (400 miles) of the trip, and also chose to sleep in the carrier when we stayed overnight at a hotel. The next leg of the trip went pretty much the same, and when we arrived at our destination she was much much calmer than I would have ordinarily expected. She also did not urinate or defecate during the ride at all. I will attribute all of this to the magical soothing properties of this carrier. In the unlikely event we'd ever travel by air, I doubt this would fit under the seat of the plane, but I'd probably be tempted to try to bring it and happily pay an additional charge. After finding this "Holy Grail" of cat carriers, I'd hesitate to put her in anything else.PS - she's sleeping in it right now!

Worked very well for multi-day cross-country drive
We bought this prior to a five day cross-country trip and were really happy we did. Previously, driving our cat on short trips in a plastic carrier was a nightmarish experience of yowling misery. We thought a long car trip would be too heavy a test for our hearts and ears. But we gave it a shot anyway and hoped that with a more comfortable home, she would settle in. Which is exactly what happened. The carrier is large enough for her to stand and turn around in, and the bed that comes with it is actually quite soft and appealing. The sturdy frame was a plus, as we had the car pretty full of our belongings and were worried about poorly-packed objects threatening to tumble down on her. Construction seems good, although we have not used it long-term so I can't speak to whether the materials or stitching hold up over time. The fact that it made our big move easier made it worth it regardless. If you are looking for a way to make car travel a little less daunting for yourself or your cat, I'd say this is a great option (my cat would like to add the disclaimer that this should in no way encourage anyone to subject poor felines to the horrible injustice of being wrested from their soft and safe homes and thrust into loud, shaking, strange vehicles against their will, regardless of the relative comfort of their cages).

Cat Approved!
I bought one of these crates in hopes that it would help one of my cats who has major claustrophobia and gets anxious during car rides. We are moving 5 hours away and I did not want to subject him to a tiny carrier where he could barely turn around and have small holes so I opted for this item. I was hoping the product would be as shown and described (the dimensions don't really matter to me just as long as it was comfortably big enough for a 12-lb cat) and fortunately for me, it was.As soon as I got the crate set up, I opened all of the windows and after a thorough inspection from my cat, he walked in and sat down. After several weeks, he now also sleeps in it.I was so impressed by this product that I bought another one! I have another two cats (four total), a 7-lb and a 10-lb, who will go in one together (they are super bonded). The bedding is SO soft! If I could fit, I would probably sleep in there too. ;) Anyhow, I was quite surprised at the quality of the bedding. Usually, companies include the cheapest bedding they can find but not in this case. It is soft and plush and looks to be a breeze to clean (washer, hello!). The construction of this product looks to also be well-made. The canvas has persevered after several clawing from four cats.I will update once we our finish with our travel and let readers know how my claustrophobic-anxious cat did during our 5-hour car ride.Update 5/28/17:Since my initial review, my four cats have taken several trips in their Happy Cat carrier and they STILL approve of it. I didn't think that two 12-lb cats would fit in the carrier, but they do and still have plenty of room. Since I bought two, I leave one out and they take turns sleeping in and on it. The carrier continues to meet my expectations. Great purchase!
