Easy to follow; Nice Layout
My introductory Farsi class used this textbook and it was incredibly useful. The layout of the workbook is very straightforward and easy to follow so working independently felt less frustrating. I liked that there was a glossary at the end of the book to which I could refer to conveniently and that most lessons had extensive word banks that gave useful definitions. This workbook often replaces direct translations into English with plenty of illustrations which helped associate the words in Farsi with the illustrations instead of needing to tie it back to English. As someone who enjoys learning languages, I found that this book does a good job contextualizing aspects of the language like vocabulary and grammar instead of simply listing definitions to memorize. Similar to how a child learns a language gradually, it needs to be deciphered through context. One complain that I have is that some of the exercises could use some more word/phrase/expression explanations. Especially since many words don't translate clearly, this would help eliminate any ambiguity or uncertainty.

Helpful textbook!
My intro to Farsi course used this book as a guide for the semester which ended up being very helpful. The pages and content are presented in a very clear and organized manner that allowed me to focus on learning the content. This includes everything from the progression of content and supporting activities to the use of images to help students learn and understand vocabulary.I found the varying exercises to be engaging and beneficiary in terms of actually digesting and understanding what we were learning. I also appreciated the inclusion of a glossary in the back of the book, as it was complete with plenty of vocabulary and short phrases I might not have been familiar with when first reading them in an activity. Overall, I would recommend this textbook to students or anyone trying to learn Persian!

Very helpful textbook to learn Persian
This book is structured in such a way that it is easy to learn the alphabet quickly and pick up common phrases / everyday language. The assignments help drill the different letters and words into your mind, so that after you complete a unit, you don't need to do much review because you've already spent much time practicing the material in the homework assignments. There are a variety of exercises, from listening to recorded dialogue and answering questions, answering written conversational questions, choosing the correct letter to fill in the blank, etc. The way this textbook has been set up has helped me grasp the basics of the language.

Extremely helpful resource to learn Farsi
This book is thorough and all-encompassing when trying to learn farsi for the first time. It starts out with phonetics so that the reader can learn pronunciation first and then gradually introduces the letters. From the middle of the book through the end it's all in farsi, and you'd be surprised at how fast you begin to read and write! The only constructive review I can give is that when you do start progressing through the book and it's all in farsi and it becomes hard to read because the typeface is so small. Persian letters are very complex if you're unfamiliar with them, and because some letters are so similar as they get smaller in font it becomes hard to distinguish between them in txt passages. I'd recommend reading glasses if you have a hard time reading small type. I'm 21 and have decent eyesight, but it was hard sometimes for me to read! Other than that the contents of the book introduced me to speaking and reading/writing farsi within a few months, would recommend.

Great for Heritage Learners or as a Teaching Aid
I myself am a heritage learner and in that case, I felt I had more of an easier time understanding the concepts in this book. I'm not sure if a non-native speaker could learn Farsi independently solely from this book but I believe with some Persian background you definitely could. I say this mostly for pronunciation's sake because I'm not sure I could nail pronunciations or sound out words if I didn't already speak Farsi. I will say though that if you're a non-native speaker and you know a Persian speaker who can assist you in learning or you're taking a class, this book is a great addition to your study. It effectively lays out everything from phonetics, to letters, to grammar. The book also has a glossary with any basic Persian word you may need to know. It does a good job of introducing the user to Persian letters and subtly but effectively introduces you to the culture. Overall I would recommend this book to anyone who is trying to learn to read and write in Farsi.

Exceptional textbook for all heritage and non heritage learners
As a heritage learner who picked up Farsi as their first language, I never was met with the opportunity to learn how to read or write in Farsi. I have grown up in a Persian house hold, speaking Farsi for over 18 years.Coming into this introductory class, I was hesitant to begin at a beginners level due to the fact that my knowledge of speaking and understanding the language was so advanced. However, I must say that taking Persian 1 and learning the language as written form is truly humbling.Half way through the year and over half way into the textbook, we are all able to read a paragraph (if not more) in Farsi. This textbook guides you through the principles of Persian writing and reading in a cohesive and coherent way. The exercises that accompany the chapter material is very easy to follow and efficient. Each chapter introduces new letters from the alphabet and implements wordds as well as short stories that incorporate such letters. All material that is presented to you in the textbook is taught cumulatively and gradually increases in difficulty.I highly recommend this textbook to anyone that's interested in picking up the language, wether you be a heritage learner or vice versa.

Ottimo libro di conversazione
Reputo questa serie tra le migliori per imparare il persiano parlato; tutti i libri finora utilizzati pongono l'accento più sulla lingua scritta che su quella parlata, ma il persiano utilizza molto e quotidianamente le forme familiari, as es. tutti i suoni in -am- e -an- che diventano -um- e -un- nella lingua parlata. Ci sono molti esercizi e i dialoghi, insieme ai video, possono essere ascoltati e visti online scrivendo all'editore stesso.
