TablecraftHJ124 Jadeite Glass Collection Butter Dish, 6.75 x 3.25 x 2.25, Green

My cupboards are jam-packed with oils, spices, vinegars and the like. I was rummaging around for honey and my bottle of rice wine vinegar flew out of the cupboard and landed on my glass butter dish, smashing it to smithereens. So, I get on Amazon and found this jadeite butter dish. I was SO excited b/c I love jadeite and already have 2 pie plates and a beautiful mixing bowl with a handle. This butter dish is a little deeper green, which I like, and it has a lovely, linear vintage pattern on the lid. I absolutely LOVE it. It came well packaged, very secure. You can tell it isn't old, but the design is delightfully vintage and for the price, it is a pleasure to own and use.

Photo is elongated. It's a normal size butter dish and mine was a very true jadeite color. Wish it said "butter" on the side like the antique ones.

It's a butter dish so it's not like there are a lot of bells and whistles to seeing over. It holds butter. I like that. But it is really cute, I love the color. The only con to this is that it's definitely small - like it *just fits* a stick of butter. So if you're not paying attention or being careful you're definitely going to get butter on the bottom and sides of the lid. Bad for an orderly person like me, but good for someone with really small hands who was always in fear of dropping the former larger glass butter dish (also me... But it was my husband who ended up dropping the old one, forcing the purchase of this new cutie one). I don't regret buying this one in the least.

First, this item had absolutely NO cushioning wrap despite being packed with a second heavy object. When I picked up the box, I could hear the butter dish clattering inside and was sure it was already in pieces. With one piece of ripped plastic around it, it had come out of its box, but it was intact!! I had purchased it to match the sugar shaker, hoping to later add more of the set. However, the only way I can use it is if I mash the butter into the top and use the bottom as a cover! A standard cube of butter does NOT fit!
