Fabulous toy. One of our family favorites. Buy multiple sets of train and tracks, though.
We bought this train set for our children for Christmas (7g,4b,4g) along with other duplo train sets. We wanted to have enough pieces for all five of us to play together. We all five love it, and it is one of the first toys our children pull out when it is time to play. The basic function is simple enough for our four year olds to play independently (after we showed them how it works) but with multiple sets, the design can be complex enough to keep our 7 year old engaged. Our 4year old son chooses to play with this over his other train sets. Some tips if this is something you are interested in: 1) (if feasible) buy a few of the duplo train sets so you’ll have enough pieces to make it interesting, 2) have a Rubbermaid or plastic bin or something to store this in that can be pulled out and put away with all the pieces in one place, not mixed in a big bin of other duplos. You need these pieces for this to be really playable, so it doesn’t work to have these pieces shuffled in with something else. And 3) It is much more fun if you have other legos or duplos to build alongside this- a bigger ticket booth, a pier/shipping port, etc. This is one of the very best toys we own, but it is definitely more fun with multiple sets of train pieces to build larger tracks, and other duplos to build destinations and such alongside the train.

Good Supplemental Train Track Set
So easy to use. We already have another Duplo train set, so I got this as a supplement to make even longer tracks. My kids love it. Good for toddlers, even better for 4-5+ because they start to better understand how to fit the pieces together in a loop.

Great add on for set #10874
We got the three Lego Duplo train sets ( 10874, 10872, 10882) for our two year old granddaughter for Christmas. She loved it and played non stop with it for 30+ minutes. The sounds the train makes are not too loud at all. I can't wait to see how she sets the tracks up as she gets older!

Fun track kit to add some elevation to your Duplo Train
The Duplo tracks in general have been great. The tracks have a good balance of loose fit but tight enough to hold together well. The pieces have just enough play that they are easy to assemble but stay together well for when the train is driving on them. It was nice to see my son start building tracks and planning how to make new shapes out of the track. This kit allowed him to go beyond the simple tracks and make a track with some elevation and even allow the train to cross underneath the bridge. One thing I did notice though is that the train we have (LEGO DUPLO Cargo Train 10875) definitely struggles a little to make it up the ramp when it's pulling all the cars and as the batteries wear down it makes the problem even more noticeable. Eventually the train would run on a flat surface, but wouldn't go up the hill until we swapped out the batteries. Overall, just be aware that you may be using up batteries in the train faster, but it's well worth the added freedom and creativity this set inspired.

Quality
Has been a good toy Bridge takes a bit for child to learn to do but he'd just turned 3 when he got it. Well build- sturdy material .

Love the concept BUT
The train tracks don’t click, lock and stay together. It’s a missed opportunity. This is so frustrating to a toddler who plays and a slight movement causes the train tracks to go out of place.

Awesome for my 5yo's birthday!
Hours of fun! My son just turned 5. My 7yo and 3yo love playing with it too! We bought all 3 (10882, 10872, & 10874, you can get 10875 too!) and connected them! The app on tablet needs location permission so you'll manually have to do that on parent side if you have kids fire tablet set up. He loves the mini games on tablet too! Seriously! Don't pass it up!
