Q: Is this just R-ala or does it also contain S -ala?

I contacted Pure Encapsulations to enquire about this very detail as it was not elucidated within any of their marketing material for the product and I wanted to attain the 'European formula' that Dr. Burt Berkson utilizes for his protocols which contains the R-ALA (natural) and S-ALA (synthetic) forms in a 1:1 (ie. 50/50) ratio. The sales rep consulted one of the companies formulary technicians who confirmed that this specific Alpha Lipoic Acid product line is in fact a 1:1 (ie. 50/50 -or in this case- 300mg:300mg) R:S form product. Hope this helps whomever is curious.

Q: How does this taste if broken open and put in a smoothie or applesauce?

Please be advised the smell and taste may be somewhat unpleasant if you open the capsule, even when mixing into a food like applesauce.

A little bigger then the liquid Advil cap.
