just awesome
I switched to this from a galaxy s4 because I wanted a durable android phone usable with one hand - imho they are making them way too big now days.Very satisfied with this phone. As someone who uses their phone for calls, email, texts, and music, its tech specs are more than adequate. It even plays the newer games very smoothly though that's less important. Also the fact that it's water proof is a major plus on my long bike rides.4g lte speeds are also much, much faster than they were on my s4. The screen, although smaller, is brilliant and sharp because the pixels are so densely packed. The screen looks and feels just like the original iphone 4 screen. That is, it looks like a retina display, can't see any pixels (and I have 20/10 vision). All things considered, however, I would have liked a better quality camera - a lot of the low-light photos come out very grainy, and the mountain-panorama shots I take while on rides don't have the resolution I would like. All told though I can't complain, much better than the S4

leaves it exposed in bad weather, etc
To say my husband is hard on his phone is an understatement...he drops it, leaves it on the top of his car (while driving away), leaves it exposed in bad weather, etc. My dad purchased a Kyocera Torque last year and has been very happy with how it holds up. I decided to try it for my husband. He likes that it is rugged but still a smartphone. It can definitely take a beating and it even takes photos underwater! Very happy with the purchase and happy with how easy it was to get activated. We bought a SIM card from ebay and activated it over the phone with Sprint.

If you actually use applications, DO NOT BUY
This phone only has 1gb of storage on board. You can argue that it does accept up to a 32 gb sd card, but many applications will NOT install to the SD Card. I installed OneDrive, OneNotes, and was out of space (together that is only 80MB). Even after installing a 32GB (which I had to buy because the phone could not even read a 64gb) it did not matter. I could not even install Waze or Facebook Messenger. What a piece of junk; even the newer Torque XT only has 1gb on board. Based on the usage of my older phone you need at least 6-8gb minimum on board to work. I never even thought to look at this. If I could figure out how to return the phone, I would.

Kyocera Torque (Sprint) Smart Rugged Phone, Water, Dust, and Drop Proof
8-9 of us at work have these units for our work smart-phones / direct connects. They work adequately and we would probably like them better if the SPRINT signal was better in Phoenix, AZ. They stand up to most of our abuse and we have only had to replace them from theft or a broken screen except for one that had an internal problem that was taken care of by warranty service.

battery life is good, if it falls no problem
if you are looking for a very indestructible phone, this is the #1 ,battery life is good,if it falls no problem, but remember, phones aren't for dropping, the speaker is very very loud, the camera of 5 megapixels is decent,it's support scratches like you have not idea,i've had it for a year and it looks new, overall it's a good phone and it's cheap!

The Kyocera Torque was made for someone like me. It is has been dropped
Ok I am a person that should never have been trusted with a smartphone. This year alone I have decimated four phones, dropping them, stepping on them, spilling water on them, you get the picture. The Kyocera Torque was made for someone like me. It is has been dropped, even in a mud puddle and works perfectly! It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but you get your email, can text and do Facebook and run the millions of apps that are out there on it. If you are accident prone this phone is for you!
