A graphic novel containing short stories
My son and I really like the Amulet series, so I decided to see what other books the author has done, and ended up buying this. This graphic novel contains several short stories, each of which is about a boy called Copper and his talking dog, Fred. Each story is a self-contained short story, rather than the stories flowing together to make up a longer narrative. You know sometimes you wake up from a dream and realise that the dream didn't make any sense. A lot of the stories in this book are like that, not just in that they don't make any sense, but also because they are actually dreams that either Copper or Fred have. For this reason I found the book to be somewhat tedious.

Absolutely wonderful
Absolutely wonderful! This was a joy from start to finish for me. I loved the characters, the artwork, the storytelling, and the lovely feature at the end where this brilliant writer and artist takes us through his creative process. I love the Amulet series too and am always on the lookout for his work. Brilliant.

engaging
Like the other books by this author (Amulet series), this is a wonderfully crafted story, with wonderful images. Perfect for engaging the relunctant reader. Young son could not (and would not) put this down till finished. Hope there will be more to follow.

Beautifully detailed trains of thought
The Copper book takes you trough years of the authors personal development in beautifully rendered fantasies and daydreams. Even though most of the drawings can be seen for free at the author's website, seeing them in a nice hardcover print adds a lot to the experience. Also, there is a nice piece of background tekst at the end of the book about the author and his process of creation.Print quality is excellent, the cover with bas-relief lettering looks splendid. Remarkably cheap for such a work of art, that spans so many years. Absolutely recommended.
