Decent low cost kitchen knife
This is a Japanese-style made in China gyuto. It says it’s made with Japanese AUS-8 steel, but most likely it’s one of its Chinese equivalents: 8Cr13MoV or 8Cr14MoV, which are decent enough steels for the purpose, if they were heat treated properly. These are stainless steels, but unlike the typical Euro stainless steels, will stain or even rust, if they are not washed and dried promptly. No dishhwasher, the nice tropical hardwood won’t survive that either. It is really well designed, executed and very nice looking. The hammered finish is decorative, it has little to do with food release. The blade is ground slightly convex, which is more inportant for food release. The blade isn’t very thin, so it will wedge a little, but also it is not very thick either. The biggest surprise is that it is really well balanced. It is slightly blade heavy, as it should be for this style, but the balance point is just 1 inch in fornt of the heel, so it feels close to neutral in a pinch grip. The back of the knife and the choil are a little sharp, but can be easily rounded a bit with sandpaper for a more comfortable pinch grip. For a 20-25 $ knife, it is an excellent value, but don’t expect the performance and edge holding of a 100-200$ authentic Japanese knife. It is definitely better than most of the 30-70$ typical chef’s knives you can buy in big box stores or even online. I highly recommend it at this price point, but wouldn’t buy it if it cost more than $30. Despite a review extolling its virtue as a good day-to-day tool in a professional kitchen, it is not optimal for the huge demand and potential abuse in a busy pro environment. This is a knife for a home cook. It has excellent esthetics and decent enough performance. I highly recommend it at this price point.

really sharp knife!
Bought this as a Christmas gift for my son because he always complained about the knives in the house being full and he loves anything Japanese. O Really sharp knife. Great quality, excellent for cutting meat, fish, whatever’s clever. Really nice looking and attractively boxed so it makes a great gift.

Good, Sharp Chef's Knife That Won't Break The Bank
You can spend up to four or five hundred dollars on a Chef's Knife, but at this price point, this knife has a big bang for the buck. It IS sharp, and slices meat cleanly, vegetables without crushing them, and does everything I have asked of it. It is steel, and requires care and immediate cleaning and drying. Definitely NOT a dishwasher item - use it, clean it, dry it, and put it away. I do a lot of cooking and food preparation, and I am very pleased. ERSJR

Japanese chef knife
The knife came in a box, there’s a plastic sleeve and a plastic cover for the tip of the blade. Great quality, sharp right out of the box, well balanced and very comfortable handle. I use this knife to cut sushi grade fish for poke, sashimi and sushi. If you’re looking for an affordable chef knife I recommend this product.

Really great knife!
Bought this knife for my husband, he loves it. it's got a nice weight to it, looks fancy, came pretty sharp! I don't think its dishwasher safe, but we tend to wash & drive them and put them up after use to make sure they stay in their best shape.

Awesome Knife!
This product exceeded expectations. With the price being so low, I did not expect much. This knife is great in appearance, feels good in your hand, and very sharp. I've only used it a few times, but it cuts amazing...from tomatoes to steaks. We'll see how it holds up, but it looks and feels very sturdy.

I wanted to like this knife
This knife looks great. The handle is comfortable, the knife is balanced, and overall feels well built, but that's where the positives end. Out of the box, this knife was not very sharp. After significant sharpening, the edge itself feels good, but the blade is far too thick (which also makes it very heavy) to where you're needing significant pressure to cut through anything. The top of the blade has harsh edges to where it hurts your hand if you're using a proper grip/pinching the blade. It works fairly well for chopping fruits and vegetables, but isn't worth it to use on meats. I would recommend a Mercer instead or if you can afford a $50 knife, getting a Victorinox.
