Back ground radiation seemed high.
Easy to use. Not sure about the back ground radiation reading 0.47 seems to be a bit high to me. As long as it records the radiation levels its good for me.

peace of mind: we use it to check for radium levels in our (and the neighbours) basements
I got this to check for radium levels in my basement (it’s pretty simple to use. Happily, we don’t seem to have dangerous levels, so now it’s a cool thing to show the kids (and segue into what radiation is). I’ve been loaning it to the neighbours so they can check their basements too. No FLKs so far. Too bad it’s not rechargeable (takes a 9V battery), but at least it’s not expensive (voucher price of £21.19 from a normal price of £23.55). Oh, and I guess I can check the radiation levels in my Japanese snacks (photo 5 in this listing), never knew that that was a possible issue!

Appears good value for money (to be confirmed)...
Obviously aimed at the hobbyist/educational spectrum due to the price, this little meter 'seems' to work OK, but there is definitely a bit of a learning curve to operate correctly, and then make sense of the readings given. Not having access to known-value/lab testing specimens, it's impossible (for me) to say just how accurate this meter is unfortunately. That said, having purchased Proster's other test gear in the past (where I CAN actually compare them to known values), they have proven to be accurate and reliable. Hopefully it's the case here, and I will be looking forward to reading other reviewer's comments that can give a true/tested account regarding the accuracy. As it stands (based mainly on the price): on a quality/value-for-money basis.... 5-Stars (unless proven otherwise).

non si capisce perchè i microsievert vengono espressi in unità discrete, di 8 in 8 a partire da 7.

I got this because I have PTC and knew I would be having radioactive iodine treatment. After getting my RAI dose I can say it definitely works! I took a baseline reading before I left for the appointment and then the other reading is from after!

It is an interesting tool for the whole family, and an educational one for older teenagers. They immediately started to measure different objects.

WHAT’S INCLUDED: Radiation Detector Instructions 9V Battery Case PRODUCT/THOUGHTS: This Geiger counter can detect nuclear radiation, B-rays, y-rays and X-rays. Is it possible to get very small readings from certain things around your house like Concreate, brick, drywall, old watches and clocks (Vintage), some CFL Bulbs when you turn them on. But this is mostly to detect higher amounts of radiation than those give off and this will not detect elctromangetic radiation. You can get interference though from your electronics at times, so if you are having fun and want to test this, make sure you are doing it away form your electronics so you don’t skew your results. This would be a good device to have in your emergency kit incase there is every a radiation situation and you need to try to guage how it is. But make sure you have a fresh 9V Battery with it that you haven’t used yet. The LCD Display is very easy to read, and theres only 3 buttons to worry about. Its pretty basic but it works.
