Great fun to assemble
I have completed the build. It has been challenging to get the parts to stay together. I tried not to use glue however, I have found that gluing is sometimes necessary. I had to request a lost part, and the company supplied me with my lost piece quickly. At this point, I am not able to get the jellyfish operational. I cannot get the winder to move; it seems locked in place. Any suggestions?

Could've been 5 stars
I have done well over 100 3d Wooden/metal/acrylic mechanical puzzles/models, so when I first saw this model/puzzle, I was greatly intrigued. Unfortunately, there had not been any reviews when I had purchased it. Now, there are 13, not including mine. But, because of the unique look of this, I didn't want to wait to see what was praised or complained about with it. I wish I had waited. Here are the things I found doing it: *It really is a unique little puzzle in it's movements. There are many MANY others out there that have mechanical movement. But, I haven't really seen one quite like this one. *With the light, it could be quite pretty. (But there are also cons with the lighting. See below.) *How some of the pieces go together, is pretty neat and decently thought out, for the most part. (Again, cons with this as well.) *The age group they listed for this is iffy. I would make sure the person putting it together has patience and if they are not familiar with putting 3d mechanical wooden models together, then make sure someone is available to help out. *The price is WAY too high, even with the $10 off discount. I, personally, wouldn't spend more than $45, max, on it. (The following will explain why...) *Quite a bit of the wood is Very fragile. (Makes it not worth the price point.) Now, this is a normal thing when you build with these type of things with wood. Of course it does depend on the company that makes them. (Example: Rolife/Rokr/etc theirs are usually quite thin and fragile. Wood Trick, Wooden City, UGears (most), etc are nice and thick/sturdy wood quality. They still may break, but you would need to actually pay attention to how each piece is attached to the boards and use your head to determine if you should use an xacto blade/or other, to cut thru the small nob of wood holding the pieces to the boards. (However, some are not completely lasered all the way thru and therefore, you will need to take even more mental time to PAY ATTENTION and cut thru such wood pieces.) This product has a little of both wood types. Most of it is thin/fragile, so make sure to GO SLOW/TAKE YOUR TIME/PAY ATTENTION and you will be fine. If you do break a piece, the included glue does actually work. (*Eye roll here.) *Like another reviewer pointed out, USB cord is very short, so you'll need to have an extension cord if you don't have a plug in a close area of where you want to showcase your model. *The light ... this is almost ridiculous in its use. It does Not shine Upward into the model. Even in the dark, it barely brightens the legs. Not to mention the body is made of wood and is quite bulky and therefore, doesn't really have the ability to catch much light if it could even make it up that high. I would have loved it if it actually lit up the "legs" of the jellyfish. Instead, it barely shines on them. I thought the acrylic would've helped with this, but no, it doesn't. (One of the reasons I found this model so unique is because the video had shown the legs lighting up. I should've paid closer attention. They barely do and in my opinion, reduces the amount it should be sold for.) *You will have to glue most of the parts together. They don't interlock tightly. (Example: The legs fall apart constantly. When the body spins, the weight changes and causes them to fall apart and even after its just sitting immobile for awhile, they can shift downward.) I highly suggest you glue them if you have no plans/reason to take it apart at a later time. *Because the wood is of a more, I hate to say it this way, but for a lack of wording, "cheaper" quality, many types of medium will seep outside the areas of where you want to apply color. I even used acrylic paint and it too seeped into the wood and spread. Not real far, but not the point. So, on the parts I did go ahead and color, I started with the lighter colors 1st and finished with the darkest. They don't spread as much when layering but you still need to do it sparingly. *It moves in a S. L. O. O. O. O. W. motion. I wish there was a way to have it move in different speeds. Because it's almost too slow. As in, you can actually get bored waiting for it make more than a move or two. This almost makes me wish I never purchased it. Maybe the seller knows of a way to adjust the speed?? Overall, it still deserves 3 stars. The idea of it and that it actually does spin and flex the leg parts, it is still a cool piece to build and own. So I do recommend it, but I would highly suggest waiting for the price to go way down. I also highly suggest if you don't have patience and/or are not familiar with building these type of models, you might want to pass it up altogether or come back when you do. Happy building.

Complex model - not for beginners.
A complex and intricate build. Some pieces don't fit tightly enough and need glueing. Super glue comes with the model but after using it once the cap sticks to the tube and won't come off, plus the whole neck of the glue tube begins to rotate and break off, so use your own glue. The lighting strip flashed a couple of times and then the positive and negative terminals dropped off it so it had to be thrown away and substituted for a battery powered light string. The bulbs were also not blue as others report but white. The finished model works great except for one tentacle whose gear does not fit snugly enough against the adjacent driving gear.

Cheaply made
Badly manufactured flimsy and it arrived with many broken gears and parts. Amazon told me they would ship the entire thing as a replacement. Now the manufacturer wants part names.... how in the world is pne supposed to when so many parts??? Dont wast your money

nice
Like the other people stated this is not that easy but well worth it. did not have much trouble with it at all. the only issue it runs on a music box which does not have enough power to run it more that 2 mins they should of went with a motor.. so by the time you wind it and place it on the stand it is pretty much done moving

It’s really fun to build but..
just make sure you're really careful when taking the pieces off the “sheets”. We broke quite a few, even taking them off super carefully. We haven't gotten it all together yet but it's going together pretty well.
