Godzilla vs. Biollante (The Criterion Collection) [4K UHD]

Godzilla Vs Biollante has finally arrived in 4k via Criterion and I am thankful for it! I really wanted to watch this film and add it to my collection, but I didn’t want to pay the obscene prices from 3rd party sellers because the previous home video release is OP. I finally watched the movie yesterday, my first time. I really loved the monster design of Biollante and back story. Definitely more terrifying than Godzilla himself 🥹 I’m not used to Godzilla’s older look. I thought at first I was watching the English dub, because I heard English, I checked the subtitles and I turned them off by accident 🤦‍♂️ The film does have English speakers though, that involves around the plot. Overall it was enjoyable.The 4k edition comes in a clear amaray case, 2 discs, one 4k the other Blu-ray. I didn’t check the language section, so I don’t know about an English dub, I can’t watch it in English anyway, just sounds weird to me imo. Considering I grew up watching Voltron and Power Rangers, both tokusatsu shows from Japan. Just doesn’t sound right to me. This edition also comes with a nice fold out poster.Overall, I highly recommend this for any Godzilla, tokusatsu fan!PS: I know that’s Godzilla -1 in the photo 😂 I don’t have a Godzilla from the movie, don’t think I’ll buy one, maybe of Biollante 🤔

Great movie! Outstanding picture and audio quality. Along with Hedora/Smog Monster, Biollante is the most unique foe in the Godzilla franchise. I'm very happy to have upgraded my old DVD copy and didn't need to break the bank.The only negative, for me, is that instead of the usual booklet you get with Criterion Collection discs you get a fold out poster with the essay about the film on the other side. It's kind of unwieldy to read.This is a must have for all fans of Godzilla!!!!

An out of print Godzilla film is finally in 4k!The quality is great and the scalpers are crying. 😂

Acceptable 4k transfer but not reference quality. Disappointing that Criterion only included the original Japanese audio and no dubs. Now I wish I had held onto my old copy as well. Arrow gets that true fans want the full experience. Why doesn't Criterion care about this??

I watched this today and the transfer and picture quality on 4K is amazing. My only complaints would be no English dub, though that's a minor. The cover is... fine... I dunno, Godzilla looks weird on the cover. If you do have the Lions gate and Miramax Blu-Ray I suggest keeping that, because it's hard to find and it has the English dub. I kept mine, but both versions are good.. this release could've been better with the English dub, however it's the transfer that's worth it. I would've loved if the poster wasn't behind the essays too. I would've loved to frame it on my wall.

Biolante was my introduction to Godzilla when I was a child in the 90s and my love for the big G has never ceased. If you loved this movie and maybe own a older version I'd suggest picking this up after witnessing how good criterion did with the shows era I'm sure this 4k version will be great! Although I wish it had the dubbed version don't get me wrong I'll watch it in Japanese but I have to pay attention to know what's being said instead of just having it on as background noise while I'm gaming and knowing what's going on. I would buy it before it goes completely out of stock like the Godzilla minus one steelbook did.. I hate scalpers
