Adorable and fun to make
I was kind of worried that the cute pom pom pets would be hard to make because of all the negative reviews, but it's actually fairly easy if you have any sort of fine motor skills.Last night, me, my husband, my sister, and another friend spent a couple hours playing with this kit. All four of us were able to successfully create both basic "baby" pom pom pets (made with a single pom) and more complex "grownup" pets (which require wires and multiple colors). My sister and I are super crafty, so our pets came out exactly like the photographs from the get go, but neither my husband nor our friend had much trouble making cute pets.It helped that the directions were clear and extremely thorough. Each step was clearly illustrated, and there were lots of photos to model after. Our friend is not a native English speaker but she was able to follow along just fine. The directions were really incredibly thorough. They even have a photograph of the right size fork to use, to scale. You just have to follow the directions exactly for the poms to turn out perfectly. The kit includes everything you need (except fork, scissors and nail clippers) to make 10 to 20 pom pom pets. We spent a couple hours playing with it, and we still have enough leftover supplies to make a lot more.

Super Cute and Fun to Make
I was worried that this would be difficult for my 9 year old, but she has already completed several projects with minimal help required from me. I did walk her through the first project so that she could see what the instructions were directing her to do. I was very surprised that our little pom pom pig turned out just as cute as the one pictured! I think the first project took us about 45 minutes to complete. The instructions in the book are clearly worded, and the pictures illustrate exactly what to do. I like that the book is ordered so that you start with easier projects and learn the skills necessary for more complex ones. We will be making lots of cute pom-pom pets and spending some quality mom/daughter time together.

Awesome!
I’m nine years old and I love to craft. This was a really good project for me. It was a little hard but I overcame the difficulties. You need to have someone put a finger on your yarn when you are tying the second knot so it is nice and tight. Overall awesome craft. The pompoms turn out super cute!

Cute craft
I bought this for my 11-year old daughter. She enjoyed making the pets, but had some difficulty tying the pom poms tight enough so they didn't fall apart. After doing a few, it went better. They could have put more yarn in the kit, so that if a mistake was made, you could start over and make another one. Her favorite one was the lion. The finished pets are quite cute.

Aplomb-Poms
My daughter had been pining for the puppy version of this set last yearish. Upon reading the puppy pom-pom reviews, I thought that maybe this set would be easier...I could swear that I read somewhere that it would be. Anyway, crafty types we not be, thus, I waited months for this one to appear at my dirty doormat. Here is what ya get:-Instruction book with cute pics.-Black bead eyes and noses; heart sequin noses.-Blush marker for rosy cheeks.-Pre-made poms and mini poms.-Measuring tape, wire, glue.-Punch-out paper noses, ears, paws, etc.-Yarn of various colors; enough for one initial small critter of each included color.*You need at home: a fork, scissors, fingernail clippers (if you use the wire), and a comb. What goes down: O.K., the process is fairly simple, it's just what you have to do during almost the whole process and the "I screwed up" part that were fails in my experience. While you wrap the yarn around the fork, you have to hold for a while an initial piece of perpendicular yarn in place. This tired out my hand. Sometimes my hand even slipped, and I would have to start the process all over. I also have small hands. Once you get past the wrapping part and your hand is free again to continue, you might screw it up, like I did. However, there is a "fix-it" step, as noted above. However, this step did no fixin' for me- in fact, even with a pic, I could not fix my pom-pom critter. I even tried both possible ways- the instruction way, and the obvious way, but no dice.Etc.: Still fun, will try again and will report on experience in later note. Have more worsted weight yarn on hand for even more fun. My daughter would not even attempt, but I told her she has to at least try. Keep in mind, this review is from an adult's point of view.*Used up all the green making our frog.

Lots to Learn & Love
My 12 year old daughter requested and received this as a gift. She has not put it down. She’s made everyone in the family their own Pom Pom animals and is now making them for friends at school. She’s managed to figure everything out with no outside help from myself or my husband. The little animals vary in difficulty levels, so there is room to learn. Also. It’s been about a week and we’ve already been to Michael’s to get more yarn and more eyes for her creations. I’m very happy with this purchase. I love seeing her create things! She’s become a devoted fan of the Klutz books! We just bought her one of their sewing books to learn next!
