LEGO 60197 City Passenger Train RC Set, Toy for Kids with Battery Powered Engine, Remote Control Bluetooth Connection, Railway Tracks & Accessories

Bought as a xmas present for a lego fan and has been played with almost daily since. The set itself consists of all the bits to make the train and 2 additional carriages along with a suitably sized track. The remote control is straightforward to use and has additional channels on it in case you want to add lights or additional motors to the train. The remote allows for 6 forward and 6 reverse speeds. The train itself has a power box which runs on 6 AAA batteries. It does eat through these very quickly though so using rechargeables may be a good idea. It is also a bit of a faff to replace the batteries as you need to dconstruct the train engine, take out the power box, unscrew it and then change the batteries. A rechargeable power block would have been a much better solution here. The train itself is nicely detailed and of a high quality contruction, but importantly the kids have not grown tired of it, quite the contrary I have had to buy lots more track and a second train to expand the set! Another neat feature is bluetooth compatibility which means, via a downloadable app, you can control the train via phone or tablet. The app has some nice additional features such as loco, horn, crossing sounds, and also the same functionality as the remote to have 6 speeds forward and reverse. This is not a cheap train set but it is definitely worth the money and you get value for what you pay.

A birthday tea, 4yrs in boxes and a nagging nephew and I decided to dig out part of my Lego collection and set up my City on the dining room table, complete with circular railway line. Always the case, Lego fever descended and I decided to purchase this set. I'm 43 but theres still nothing better than up turning the box with all the numbered bags appearing across the table. Watching a bit of tv in the background the set took me 3hrs to complete. I love the yellow and blue colour scheme - it is bright and striking. I was amazed at the detail on this set not only in cosmetics but build also. I see the engine chassis as multiple drain covers for ventilation. The design of the buffet car is fun, with standing tables, food and beverage selection. Always good for City residents too, to find sustenance on a long journey. The passenger car started off with a luggage hold, which is a nice addition and ensures the gangway's are kept clear. Due to the age of my previous set, I now possess one train on old RF, and this set on the newer bluetooth connection. Yet to link it to my phone for the authentic train sounds, but first thing is to maybe start saving up for the new power up battery set to upgrade my fleet. The build and first few circuits of my City kept my nephew quiet for a whole afternoon, which is no mean feat. I knew he was getting bored when the zombie apocalypse started but then thankfully, it was time for him to go home! I then had it all to myself. A really good set, lots of play options, especially as it comes with it's own halt station. Compliments other trains in the fleet, and a nice addition to any City.

We bought this for our 8 year old son and he loves it. It took the best part of a day to put together but it was straight forward and simple. The train is great, and he enjoyed it since then that he has spent his money on the cargo set to go along with it and combined both tracks. This has everything you need to get started but we did buy additional track to allow some flexibility as the track supplied is limited. Since then we have bought a couple of pasting tables and set the track up on them as a little model railway and he has played with it every day.

My son opened this for his 16th birthday...couldn't wait to build it. Sat solidly building it yesterday afternoon & we are really impressed with how realistic the details and even the train noise are. He has autism ...loves trains & lego but I had nothing else to go on for what to buy him so i took a chance. I bought this along with some extra track (from reading reviews). It's a total success & he's already looking at other accessories he can get to expand it. A very good quality product worth the money we think. Would recommend.

This is a nice, if expensive train set, but it has a design fault. The box-like structure underneath the loco prevents the bogies from turning and causes derailment on corners. You can either modify it or remove it completely - it doesn't affect the train's performance. I felt that it was a bit short for my large train layout but I was fortunate to find a spare single carriage on eBay.

Great Lego city model. The assembled train is of a good size and is in scale with othe Lego city products. The Bluetooth control function works well and the train is surprisingly fast (boarding on frantic on a small layout) and works well with the control supplied. There is an app available to control the train using a tablet with the addition of added sound effects. Overall this is a great Lego set with real playability, however the supplied quantity of track is very limiting and additional purchases of track is a must.

I bought this when on offer and added it to the existing set I had of this train. Being Lego you can’t fault it and it was a great price on Amazon and had it delivered the very next day. If your thinking of buying it do it! It’s well worth it and great fun to build and play with. It comes with enough track to get you started but do look at adding in some extra bits like switch tracks and extra straight and curved track to enhance the experience. Both these can be purchased from Amazon.

Classic brilliance from LEGO, been after this set for ages had to wait til it was in the sale 50% Off then bought two sets as this set doesn't look complete else. Great power functions, gets up to quite a fast speed (go careful on your track layout) combines building fun and has great playability unlike some LEGO, a must for any LEGO city set. Downside is could do with a little bit more track but you can always buy that separately.
