It was a pretty decent clothesline while it lasted. Only got tangled up inside the case a couple of times. The plastic case became brittle and broke after 3.5 years of gentle and occasional use under a covered patio (see photo). Guess I expected it to last a bit longer?Also, it sags under the weight of just one wet bathing suit. 😣

**UPDATED 07 May 2019**Unfortunately, I have removed two stars for this product. After a relatively small amount of use, it is clear that there is entirely too much stretch in the line material to support much weight hanging on the line. While it would work for a light load (a couple of t-shirts or a small sheet), anything else just drags this line so low that items start to touch the ground. I am a big guy and I mounted this with large lag screws and stretched it as tight as possible (without breaking the line). It still has a purpose, just not one that works for me. Sorry, but I can no longer recommend.*************I used to use a standard cotton clothesline but hated that it was a fixed line through the middle of my backyard. This gave me the option to retract it and not strangle myself walking into my back door. This unit seems to be well made, was easy to install (just two heavy duty screws) and the loop on the end slips over a hook, nail or whatever on the other side. The only downside I have is that in order to tighten the line, you essentially loop it around a grooved retaining loop on the bottom of the retractor housing. It holds pretty well, but there is still some stretch on the line. So I've taken off a star. Otherwise, it appears to be a well built unit and I'll update this after I've had a season in the rain, snow and sun to reflect.

If you want to hold a lot of clothes and often then put up something permanent . If you have a small project or just need to hang a few things then this is an affordable solution. For all you haters out there you shouldn't expect miracles from something of this nature. People should be responsible for there own stupidity , and not blame the product if it fails your needs. Amazon returns are easy and other products are available. I love this thing and it suits my needs. I have purchased 4 of these , 1 failed due to manufacturing , I returned it , they replaced it. Simple .

Bought this to replace older, much-used model (not necessarily same manufacturer) which lasted several years before ceasing to retract. This one failed after 3 months in a different way; the line pulled off of the pulley wheel, crashing my laundry to the ground. I was able to reattach it ( not easily), but without restoring retractibility. So now it's just a clothesline, functional but not what I paid for. I've actually had three of these in maybe 20-plus years. This is the first time one has simply come apart like this.

This is a good product, I use it in my backyard for hanging clothes. I mostly hang light weight items and this is ideal.

This is ideal clothesline for my second home in Costa Rica. I placed it when my hammock is and use it when we dry clothes outdoors. To lock the line in place you have to wrap the line around the circle tab at the bottom. Simple but it works. The product thus far seems durable

This clothesline was fairly easy to set up, and I haven't had any issues with it yet. It seems durable, though I haven't tried to put a ton of weight on it because I don't typically hang a ton on a clothesline at a time. Overall, I think the product is worth it, especially given the price!

Used it last weekend and it held up fine. We wrapped it around a pergola and supported two of the ends with hooks and used the hook supplied to fasten the end of the line. We hung 3 pairs of jeans, 4 pillow cases and a king fitted and top sheet and it held them with no problem.
