LOVE THIS. LEGO female scientists characters and backgrounds!!! A fantastic way to acknowledge and encourage girls in science. Unfortunately, this was a limited run product for LEGO and, not surprisingly, it sold out almost instantly. I had been searching for it for months.Here is the description from the LEGO site:The Research Institute has everything that you need to explore the world below, around and above us! Created by real-life geoscientist, Ellen Kooijman (alias:Alatariel), and selected by LEGO® Ideas members (formerly known as CUUSOO), this collection of scenes depicts three varied professions within the world of natural science. Help the paleontologist study the origin of dinosaurs with the magnifying glass, map the skies with the astronomer and her telescope, and assist the chemist as she carries out experiments in her lab. This set also includes building instructions, as well as a booklet containing information about the creator and an introduction to each of the professions featured in the set. There’s a whole world of exciting professions out there to explore – build and role play them to see if they suit you! Includes 3 minifigures: paleontologist, astronomer and a chemist.”What the description pointedly does not say is the minifigures are women. It is a fantastic product but, as I said, it immediately sold out and never continued. I find this so very odd. Again from LEGO’s site: “This set was overwhelmingly popular and is no longer available for purchase.” But, but… if it was overwhelmingly popular…why not continue it?All this being said. Grab one for your daughter before Amazon runs out!!!!

I love this set. Honestly, I wasn't even the biggest lego fan as a kid, but as a female chemistry professor, I heard about this set and LOVED it immediately. My only complaint is the chemist's face looks either angry or scared - why not happy or content? Oh well. Also, I put the microscope (meant for the paleontologist) on the chemist's station because I like microscopy. This is a great set for my desk at work.I wish LEGO had made more - I paid quite a bit from a 3rd party seller (which I was willing to do), but I wouldn't be surprised if lego kept the supply low to crank up the demand. Overall, very cool product. I'm not sure when more will be released, but the price was worth it to me.

I love that this is such a unique LEGO set, and I love even more that they're female scientists! My son is a student at a STEM magnet school and I purchased one for my son and another for his teacher for teacher's appreciation day and she was thrilled to have it on her desk. Note that each set is fairly small in size, as in, polybag size. But all three together make for a wonderful science-themed LEGO set that'll fit on a shelf or desk. I hope the popularity of this set alone inspires LEGO (and other Idea creators) to design more science-themed sets.

I bought this as an additional gift for the wife for Valentine's day. She loved it. I'm really glad that somebody found some of these in stock and they are available again. While it's true the price is more than you could have bought it from the Lego store back when it was widely available, it's still a great unique set for the science-loving female in your life. It's easy to put together. The three models (paleontology, chemistry, and astronomy) can be used independently. She has them distributed about her office.

A chemist with a scared face! She is the only one who has safety googles in the Research Institute set so I can not swap her head, she is stuck with her scared/angry face. I personally find it funny (the scared face in a chemist) and may be good for the kids to pretend that something dramatic is happening at the lab, but why not one of the faces be happy? It is a nice set, not many pieces (165), and I love it.

I was unable to buy these for regular price when they came out and due to limited addition run, I thought all hope was lost. I was thrilled to see I could buy on amazon (for double the price). I work in the tech industry for one of the largest tech companies in the world and despite their commitment to diversity, it's still 4:1 male to female. For now these legos sit on my desk. In the future, they will go to my daughter to show her that women truly can work in any field of interest.

Fun and easy to assemble for my 5 year old daughter who loves legos. Great teaching models for kids.

We love this set. Our children love creating with Lego and are interested in so many things (just like most kids). This set speaks to the inquisitiveness all people have. For me, it definitely was a thrill to open with our daughters who love science.In our home, the Research Institute Lego set is frequently integrated into all sorts of other building scenes, with Lego City, Architecture, Marvel, etc. It's time for more of this.We are hoping to send another of this set as a gift to a dear friend who is the Supervisor of her school's Science Department. My 4 year old grand-daughter loves this - one of the few, but hopefully growing number, of lego sets with female characters who have professional/active roles in the lego world. It does make a difference for young girls to see this in their toys.
