Why requency response range is important
These are the ones to get. They aren't too expensive, but they sound great. These have a frequency range of 5Hz-24,000Hz. Other products make claims like " high-quality audio with a 20-20KHz range". Theoretically, that's the range of human hearing, but my ears can hear the difference. Here's why... The advertised range (e.g., 5 Hz - 40 kHz) indicates the frequencies the headphones can technically produce, but it doesn’t mean they reproduce them equally well. A "flat" response—consistent volume across all frequencies—is ideal for accuracy, but most headphones have peaks and dips. Reality: At the extremes (like 20 Hz or 20 kHz), the output might roll off—meaning the sound gets quieter or less accurate—rather than being as robust as in the mid-range (e.g., 1 kHz). For example, a headphone claiming 5 Hz might only produce a faint rumble at that level, not a clear tone. Also, I have an identical-looking pair of Sony ear buds that were slightly cheaper and they sound like crap by comparison, so you can't tell by looking at them. Finally, do not believe anyone that says that the range of these headphones can somehow damage your ears. There’s no specific frequency above or below which sound inherently damages ears—whether it’s infrasound (below 20 Hz) or ultrasound (above 20 kHz)—unless it’s delivered at a high enough sound pressure level (SPL), measured in decibels (dB). In other words, you're setting the volume is to loud. So, I have bought these numerous times. I keep coming back to them even though I also have expensive Apple Airpods, because they are relatively inexpensive, comfortable, sound great and don't need to be charged. The only negative is they aren't the best for talking on the phone or using for my work meetings. For meetings with Microsoft Teams I use another pair of headphones with a microphone that's designed to be closer to the mouth for phone calls. But in a pinch they will work for phone calls and meetings. Just don't expect them to have the best quality with the microphone.

Going Back to Wired?
-I believe these are considered Sony's best (wired) earbuds, and they deliver pristine highs and deep lows. The key however, is to tryout the 4 different sizes of rubber inserts. If they are not snug enough, the sound will actually sound tinny and thin. If they're too big, the sound could be somewhat dark and too bassy. I have average ear (canals) and went with the second largest size, which gave a balanced, full range sound. -Yes, the wires can get tangled, but I'll deal with that if I can avoid having to ever charge the things. Actually, if you have experience wrapping live sound or studio cables, you can wrap these earbuds in a similar (albeit miniaturized) way such that they're ready to use in an instant.

Decent sound for a cheap price
These in-ear Sony earbuds are a great choice for anyone looking for a decent pair of earbuds. They come with a small rubber piece that you can wrap the excess cable around, a microphone, as well as a button to pause/play media. They come with extra tips that are sized differently. Sounds are great, the bass isn't overdone, the mids and highs come through nice and they feel great in the ear. A great option for travel, exercising, or just looking to kick back and enjoy some tunes or a podcast.

Love these little buds
Truly pleased with my Sony buds. I find myself exclusively buying Sony earbuds lately for quality, sound and value. I bought these after my daughter used my older Sony earbuds that are nicely broken-in and she won't give them back! ;P I have been pleased with these so far, even stepped on them accidentally, and while they got scratched up bad, they still work great and I don't care because they were a steal! I've used the phone function on them several times and have had no quality issues; I can hear the caller and they can hear me clearly. Music quality is very good, not great, but very good for the price and sound better than buds costing 3 times as much. Fit is good, but wouldn't recommend for exercise, etc. as they tend to easily fall out with vigorous movement. That's not what these were designed for anyway. Comfort is very good for long listening as long as you choose the right size tip. So far, great little buds for the money after almost a year of use.

surprisingly mediocre
Coming from sony (and considering its price for wired earbuds), I had high expectations. The quality of the earbuds is fine. The wires are all designed in a way that they take very low stress and are less prone to breaking from repeated bending and/or fraying. The actual buds are ergonomically angled so they fit into your ears with minimal fuss. The sound quality itself was the biggest disappointment. I've had betron earbuds that were a fraction of the price and had spectacular sound quality with rich bass and brilliant treble, but the sound I got out of these was comparable to $5 skullcandies i bought 5 years ago. The sound is thin, tinny, and nowhere near the "gorgeous" sound sony claims. the bass frequencies are non existent and the treble and mid ranges sound like they're playing from a speaker underneath a mattress. vocal songs sound like they're playing into an empty bean can. i've messed with the equalizer panels on both my phone and computer, but nothing changes the weak, airy sound quality I get. it just feels like I bought a $30 piece of trash. call me petty, call me a karen... but if you're paying 30 bucks for a product from a big audio brand you'd at least expect some good sound, even for wired earbuds. If I wanted this tinny, hollow sound I would've spent 5 bucks on skullcandies or jvc. as earbuds? yeah, they work. but for the price? no darn way.

Good quality in ear earphones; however disappointed at lack of remote features , no volume adjustment; have to manually adjust volume on phone.

Good for the price, don’t expect much

Not only is the volume output significantly lower compared to other Sony earphones in a similar price range, it emits a very high frequency that is damaging to the ears. I exchanged my first order for the exact same product, and found the replacement piece to have the exact same issues. So I know that it wasn't just a one-off defective piece, the product itself is bad. Please DO NOT BUY if you wish to PROTECT YOUR EARS
