Let's Cut To The Chase....It's A Good Knife
UPDATE: MARCH, 2016: The knife started acting up in the past few weeks (body getting hot and stopping dead a few times). It finally died on Easter Sunday. For me it lasted about 2 1/4 years (or just past the warranty). We used it fairly often so for the price I can't complain.Original review:For the price I did not expect too much, just an OK knife. This is a good knife. While it is unremarkable and really just a basic knife, it performs really well. The dimensions are as follows:Blades: 9" when mounted (about 12" overall)Knife body: about 10" long. Approximately 7 1/2" to 8" around, where you hold it for use.Electrical cord: Approx. 5 feet. The twin blades mount and eject easily. The knife is not heavy nor cumbersome. It fits well into my hand and my wife's - we are of average height and size. The trigger on the underside of the knife is easy to activate and use.The knife cuts smoothly through meats. I've used it on roast beef, turkey, chicken and pork roast without any problems. It cuts cleanly and does a nice job producing thick or thin slices of meat. It works effortlessly even on thick/dense meat.It also comes with a gray plastic hard case which holds the knife, blades in their own little compartment, and user guide.Hamilton Beach warrantees the product for 2 years. At this price, for what more can you ask?

Electric knife rules!
I'm done with the battery types!! This is typical dependable "ELECTRIC" knife. Slice right through crust bread like butter. Haven't tried it on meat yet but I'm sure it will be fine too. Be careful of the electrical cord though. It's a little short and tends to bend in the way.

Cuts Riflecase Foam Easily - I Don't Use It For Cooking
I bought this electric knife needing to modify the case foam for a few Pelican riflecases I was waiting to customize. I was looking around for a good hotwire knife, but I decided to go primitive and don't really care if it looks PERFECT inside as long as my expensive gear and firearms are protected and seated well. I pictured my layout inside, flipped the foam inserts over and traced every item facing backwards with a sharpie. This way, the nicer side which would face up as you opened the case would not have marker lines (watch the video from Brownells).I cut the interior for two cases, one a three piece AR-15 long-range sniper setup with upper and lower separate and the optic and QD mount separate as well. The other case has two individual AR-15's completely assembled and two magazines for each firearm cut. I was able to do the cutting myself very easily with a sharp edge tool to "start" the initial cut and working my way from the middle to the edge with the Hamilton Beach electric knife. The end result is very attractive albeit NOT perfect, but I don't need a pretty case interior....just one that looks good enough and keeps my items safe. The only gripes I have, and the reason for the 4/5 stars are two things. 1.) The knife gets very hot after a short amount of use. Granted this is not a unit designed to cut yards and yards of foam...it's designed to cut cooked meats...so I can't fault it for that too much. The other thing is the 'cut' button is a depressed return system....so you constantly have to depress the button to keep your blades moving and it can tire your fingers quite quickly. I would have liked a button lock to keep the knives moving, but I know this is a safety precaution and it is easy to work around.Overall great product, cut two whole cases and still works like brand new! I am happy with the purchase. Who knows, maybe I'll have some meat to cut with it sometime to really give it a good field test...

after 20 years my old hamilton beach knife gave out ... i immediatly purchased another one
The media could not be loaded. After 20 years or so of use, my original hamilton beach carving knife gave out, after I dropped the knife on the floor. And since I had gotten so many years of good use out of the knife and since the knife always gave me the results I wanted from an electric knife, I immediately purchased a new hamilton beach to replace the old one.To my eye, the old knife and the new knife are remarkably identical in shape and functionality. The carved piece at the front bottom of the knife is slightly longer on the new model but that's about all I can see that is outwardly different. The case that comes with the new knife is far more modest than the old knife being that the old knife case was slightly large, was lined more nicely and had better compartments to hold the blades and the fork, but that modified design isn't a major concern for me.The knife size, shape, grip, ease of use (etc.) is all as good with the new knife as with my trusty 20-year old model. For the price, this is a nice version of an electric carving knife.

Great storage container!
I make gluten free artisan bread, which has a crust worthy of a chain saw. I was delighted to see this Hamilton Beach Electric Knife Set teach my bread a thing or two about unity. I hit the trigger and set it on the bread, and before you know it, my counter is in two pieces (use a cutting board). My son insisted it was so much faster and less wasteful to use an electric knife for filleting fish, so I tried it. He's right! I get two fish worth of meat for each fish I clean! And can I blather about that container? It has a slot for each of the two blades, an area for the motor housing, and they even created room for the cord. This means if my family remembers to take the step to put it back in the container, I will be able to find the blades when I make my bread!

The price was right
The price was great- and they worked like a charm. Nothing fancy about it, it was sharp, held a charge and was easy to use- while being light weight.
