The LEGO Build-It Book, Vol. 1: Amazing Vehicles

Book has deep blue background which doesn't help with the details. Also should be available in other book formats as Kindle doesn't handle technical data well.

I've followed the author of this book online for several years, and have admired photos of many of these models in the past. But try as I might, I could never figure out just how he build all of these!I bought this because I was always amazed that the author was able to create an amazing diversity of vehicles using the pieces from just one single set (5867 Super Speedster).The best thing about this book is that you can build every single model using the pieces from just that one set, and the author's amazing building skill will teach you new ways to put bricks together that you might never have considered possible! Consider this a textbook on advance vehicle building techniques.I bought the kindle version and really like it because it is very easy to build from my tablet screen without having to constantly try to keep book pages open.I'm anxiously awaiting the kindle version of the second volume.Again, don't forget to track down a 5867 Super Speedster set. It is now discontinued, but can be found for a reasonable price in various online outlets.Note: very young children might have problems building some of the models on their own because some of the more advanced techniques are not always as stable while building as the typical official LEGO models. But with an adult's help, this book could really open up a kid's mind to alternative ways to put bricks together!

There is much to say that is positive about this book and many others here have identified the book's value.I am disappointed because it could have been easy for the authors to number the pieces to assist in ordering and identifying what parts are needed. My great grandson inherited some bins of Lego with few instructions. Since Legos have so many specialized parts, it is difficult at times to know how to use them. I wanted a book that would show us how to build and this book does that. However, finding all the parts listed in the bill of materials, is a two-day search through the bins. It seems easier to buy the $69 set but my counters and tables are already littered with Legos and I can't justify purchasing more and wondering where to store them. I could have used a few identifying numbers.

Grandson was impressed with the book and all the vehicles that could be made from the red car, BUT, did not want to take apart the car that he made from the kit. He's been encouraged to make many of the vehicles as he can always take them apart and go back to his favorite!

I LOVE this book! I have bought one for my son and one for his friend. Be aware, one must order a particular Legos set to use the book. I found that on e-bay for around $30

Bought this book for my 8yr old son. He LOVES it! It breaks down the build of the cars you see on the cover and also encourages imagination.

Nice models with very cool details. My only concern is that most of the models are too fragile and not durable. So it's hard to play with them. I expected to be be fun for my kids not only to build but also play with cars, but most of the time it is repairing stuff.

Like the other reviewers, I have to marvel at the skill and creativity of the authors in coming up with these 10 superb models from just one set. Moreover the book is beautifully presented with a lovely quality feel and finish.PARENTS NOTE: there is one caveat: the models are not always the most robust, and often don't stand up to the rigours of kids playing with them. While I appreciate that the limitations on the bricks available for each model perhaps make this unavoidable, this is difficult to explain to a crying / frustrated child whose new favourite truck / car etc. keeps falling apart....So, personally, I'd suggest this book for the more adult lego builder. And in that context, its pure brilliance.

This book gives you an insight into the mind of a master builder.It is fantastically illustrated and full of expert tutorials, sophisticated building techniques and instructions for 10 amazing vehicles all built from a single Lego Creator set. Most builders will have the pieces in their collection already. The techniques can be used for many different types of creations and will be beneficial to builders of any skill level children and adults alike.I would suggest anybody who likes Lego to buy this brilliant book.

The production quality of this book is great - really nice paper.

Dieses, obwohl in Englisch verfasste Buch, gehört ins Regal eines jeden LEGO-Fans. Die gezeigten Modelle benötigen sowieso keine weiteren Worte, egal in welcher Sprache, insofern sollte man sich nicht dadurch vom Kauf abschrecken lassen, dass man kein oder nur wenig Englisch versteht.Mit den Teilen eines einzigen Creator Sets (5867) lassen sich zehn verschiedene Modelle bauen, die allesamt überaus gelungen sind, Einblick in fortgeschrittene Bautechniken bieten und kreative Detaillösungen zeigen.Eine Teileliste sorgt dafür, dass man auch ohne das genannte Original-Set die notwendigen Bausteine zurechtlegen kann.Wenn man von dem Buch nicht genug bekommt - die Fortsetzung gibt es auch schon:  The LEGO Build-It Book, Vol. 2: More Amazing VehiclesThe LEGO Build-It Book, Vol. 2: More Amazing Vehicles
