Wow, does this iron perform! It's easy to fill with water, it heats up quickly and it produces incredible steam. It cut my ironing time at least in half. It was especially wonderful at ironing linen towels. The forced push of the steam thru the iron is amazing. I didn't even need to dampen them! I sure wish I'd had this iron after I bought floor length linen drapes last year that required pressing before I could put them up. It is a very large iron and it is the heaviest iron I have had (heavier than their last "top of the line" iron, which was retired due to the cord cracking around where it attaches to the iron, but, it had a long life). I don't mind the weight, but if you don't want something big and heavy, you might wish to look at different models. I am very happy with my purchase of this Rowenta Force Pro Steam Iron.

I've been ironing for many years and find it very therapeutic. I've tried many hotel irons and last had a 1600-watt Shark which I thought was pretty good. The 1850-watt DW9540 takes ironing to a new level and, as someone else pointed out, really is the high-end sportscar of irons. Clothes come out almost like new and markedly better than any other iron I've used. In particular, I've never seen an iron do so well on seams - it is likely due to the vast amount of steam as well as the many nozzles along the center. The weight of the iron makes it so you don't get accidental wrinkles from the fabric bunching up - I wouldn't have expected this, but it is really good at preventing bunching on both sides of items like slacks or sleeves. I nearly didn't buy this model because of people complaining about the trigger. I think it's really well designed and quite useful. You barely have to touch it to get a good amount of steam and it gives you incredible control. Given the large amount of steam that this thing produces you want it for safety as well as to prevent using up all your water too quickly. Also, you can really have at seams and wrinkles to your heart's desire. You can go through a full tank of water for a single item or once you become more efficient probably 3-5 items on a tank. People also complained about the weight. It's not that noticeable. I almost thought that Amazon sent me the wrong thing because the unopened package felt so light. The glide plate on the iron is very smooth and you don't need to really lift the iron that often. The fine tip at the top is noticeably better than other irons at removing fine wrinkles in difficult areas. From using hotel irons, there are many simple, lightweight irons that have nice non-stick coatings and actually perform quite well. This iron is equally smooth and also has some sort of coating, so I don't feel like anything is missing. This iron may occasionally drip a small amount when using lots of steam, but it is nothing compared to the major dripping I've experienced in inexpensive hotel irons. Rowena really pays attention to details. This iron has a specially designed solid and wide base so the iron is incredibly stable when resting upright. All my other irons would quickly wobble and come close to falling off the ironing board with the slightest movement of the ironing board. The cord is reasonably long - as long as my Shark. Yes, the iron restarts in Wool mode after plugging it in, but it's a simple and quick click to Cotton. Warm-up from room temperature up is 5-10 seconds and you can already start ironing if needed. If the iron is already hot, 1850 watts will warm it up in just a couple seconds. My Shark at 1600 watts would sometimes blow my circuit breaker. This iron is very well controlled and while once or twice I might see my room lights instantaneously dim, it has extremely good voltage control and has not once blown my fuse. One minor issue is that the manual says to turn off the iron before unplugging - there is no off button except for auto-off, so I still have to resort to quickly pulling the plug like I would do with all my other irons. Out of the box the iron looked perfectly new, but there were some minor calc deposits that were coming out. Not sure if this was from factory testing or what. A 3-min calc-clean cycle made it all go away completely. Very well worth the $110 I spent. Ups my ironing for many years to come, noticeably improves my clothes over other irons, and the therapeutic benefit of this insanely good iron is worth every penny. Ignore all of the naysayers out there. This iron rocks! One Major Issue: I was trying to remember how to turn on the clean cycle and tried holding down the trigger and pressing the mode button at the same time while simultaneously plugging in the iron. The iron got ridiculously hot and started smelling like creosote. This essentially fried the iron and it stopped working shortly after. Don't do this. If you are Rowena, please fix this issue and also make it easier to remember how to turn on clean mode. Could perhaps print those instructions on the back of the iron.

Very big steam iron bigger than the 10 year old or so Rowenta Focus Made in Germany it is replacing, which did drip for a long period of its use then leaked when upright. Very comfortable to hold and somewhat heavy in the sense of substantial while being contoured to be readily manoeuvrable. Very easy ironing with smooth stainless steel bottom plate. For steam the button must be held not an issue for me. More a steamer than iron in the sense incorporates no water spray nozzle and has massive steam capacity, more than the Monster Made in Italy steamer iron with separate water tank it now stands next to. Likewise the Rowenta iron with separate water tank at our Florida house is more like the Rowenta Focus in size. Large opening to fill with water and very simple electronic controls. To turn off simply let sit on the ironing board for 30 seconds as the Auto Off cannot be accessed manually then unplug the iron and empty it to let stand for next use. Made in France something not revealed on the Amazon site so leaves you guessing until received and nothing to be ashamed of. Certainly provides more assurance than Made in China at this price point, which is a snick higher than a top-of-the-line Singer or lesser Rowenta. The Amazon price for this steam iron showed a very large discount and beat all others Googled.

I iron nearly every day and this is a heavy iron which I love. There are two things I which I wish were different: It doesn't have a shut off and it doesn't have a spray feature. It does have a good steam pulse, however. If I want some spray, I keep a spray bottle of water near my ironing board. It heats up quickly.
