So I guess I must be missing something. because these seem perfectly fine to me. While I do not recognize some of the ingredients listed, after a quick search they all appear to be widely accepted as safe food additives, from multiple health agencies. If you're concerned about microwaving plastic I can respect that, but these are incredibly easy to empty into a mug or cup and heat up that way, with no loss of flavor or texture. These are super easy to prepare (especially if you leave them in the bag,) and in less than a minute you've got rich, sweet tapioca bubbles, ready for some tea. And a shelf life of over a year without preservatives is a nice little bonus, especially since for me this is a kind of "once in a blue moon" drink that I don't always crave. These do come in plain clear plastic pouches with no special branding, definitely giving off that "bulk" vibe, but at the same time these are $1 per serving (at time of writing,) whereas others go for double or triple that. Overall I just can't think of any complaints that are worth bringing down the score of these, given their decent value and quality, and while I am no expert, I'll be giving these a 5/5.

I used this to make Earl Grey tea with brown sugar boba. I added a little brown sugar syrup to the last step of cooking the boba and that gave it the perfect amount of sweetness. I find I need to cook my boba a total of 50 seconds per pack in the microwave in order to achieve the gelatinous texture I like. It’s a good product.

If you have a boba shop or just love boba, this iss a great supply of tapioca pears and a good price.

I love how easy and fast it is to make just the right amount of boba. This is so incredibly convenient and you can take it anywhere where you’ll have access to a microwave, so it could be great for having easy, inexpensive boba even in a hotel room.

They're weren't horrible tasting...and definitely easier than making my own boba...but there was some weird after-taste that I wasn't too much a fan of, and I felt like the actual boba should have been just a tad bigger. But this boba was easy to use and I may continue to occasionally use it in my herbal milk tea.

Each pouch carries enough for a nice boba smoothie. Instructions are included for microwave or boiling water. I've tried both, and each method has its annoyances. The microwave method is faster but you have to add a bit of water to the packet, and the stovetop method you have to bring it to a boil it for several minutes. The plastic held up in either heating method but at the end of the day - you are heating up plastic. The boba seemed a bit chewier and stickier than I remember previous experiences, but it tasted pretty good. I like the brown sugar flavor. They all were suitable size to go through my boba straw without any trouble. The packaging I received does not match the current photo although I haven't reviewed right away so they might have changed it. I received a white box (like a bulk costco box) and the packages are plain clear sealed plastic bags with no printing of any kind - not even heating instructions. This is a lot of plastic involved.
