Surprise!
After reading more reviews of this walking stick after I placed my order I had made up my mind I was probably going to return it even before it even arrived. Well it did arrive and I was pleasantly surprised. I had read and seen photos of sticks with cracks and splits. None were visible on the one I received. It is a very strong, heavy walking stick with a very nice finish. I also read a complaint the it was crocked and if you expect a straight one don't order it. Well, to that I say if I wanted a straight one I would have ordered a metal one. Its a stick. Its not suppose to be straight. The crooks in it give it character. I have not used it yet for walking. Still a bit cold here (25 degrees) but will be getting out soon. I have no doubt this will serve me well. I have no complaints to its quality and for the money you can't go wrong. Granted these are sticks, they are made from a growing tree. Not every one will be the same, again, the character thing. The one I received is a keeper.

Walking stick
This worked out perfectly for a friend who was having trouble getting around but not yet ready for a cane. The walking stick is perfect. In fact, I’ll order one for me to use for hiking. Sturdy hiking stick and less expensive than Cabellas.

Definitely Worth the Money
This is a nice, heavy(ish) walking stick that I would not worry about breaking under normal circumstances. The wood is a neat, light-colored, and grainy/textural type and is covered with a decent coat of clear lacquer. If you're a 250 lb guy and fell on top of this in just the right way as the bottom of it was planted in the ground and the top lay atop a stump...then yes, you could break it. Under normal hiking, December-March "frozen yard/driveway" work, and some ice-related falls, I don't expect this to break. I feel that this stick would be great to get a snake safely off of a hiking path...to dissuade a pesky smaller/medium dog from chasing you...or to give you a bit of "credibility" with other people during a walk or a hike. This stick would NOT be my first choice if I truly expected to have to ward off a pit bull or a rottweiler. The spike, while nice, is not very long and is not sharpened to a point. You could file it down a bit if you so desired, but any thoughts of "braining" an attacking animal should be put aside. The length/mass ratio is also not optimal for something you think you might have to actually USE for self defense. Something stubbier and thicker, such as a shillelagh...or a TRUE "root" (not one of the ones online that say root by don't actually have one) cane/stick...would, in my opinion, deliver a much more effective blow to an aggressor. I kind of wish the lanyard hole wasn't quite so large, as its diameter could clearly cause a failure if you needed to swing the stick at something. Otherwise, I'm very happy with this walking stick and would definitely buy another for the money. Some paracord wrap, perhaps a button compass glued to the top (although the top of the stick is not perfectly flat), and perhaps a small fixed blade with sheath tethered along the length of this, and you've got one outstanding hiking/camping/survival stick!

7 years later and still like new!
My husband and I were just talking about how well this has held up so we looked to see when we purchased this. I purchased this back in 2018 for him and it still looks as good as the day he got it. Granted he doesn't use it all the time but enough to where you would be surprised how good this held up. No peeling or chipping of the wood, no splinters or anything. The color is still beautiful. The rubber cap still stays in place to cover the tip, the little rope handle is even still attached and whole. I am really surprised how well this lasted. I just wanted to come in here and let everyone know.

Great Stick For 6 Foot 275lb Men
Other than the the yellow nylon strap falling out immediately and the rubber tip requiring the pressure of two people to be pulled off this is an awesome stick. Im 6 foot 275 and the day after I got it we hit the trail for a 7 mile round trip and it held up perfectly. The wife was kind of making comments about me using a walking stick at 32 years old but on the way back she had picked up her own stick and was using it for support... Great price too, most sporting good places and tea shops in the mountains charge 24 for the same stick this one was 18 when I bought it and free shipping as I ordered other items. Great buy.

An excellent stick, and good for a tall person (I'm 6' 5" and I love it)
This is definitely a heavier stick than the first walking stick I bought from Amazon. I now keep one in my car and keep one in my house so that I don't forget to have one with me. It is a very nice stick, and I like the new style of wrist loop much better than the loop that came with my former stick. The loop is made of a better material that appears like it will not fray like the other loop did. (I tried asking the seller of this one if they could give me a second wrist loop, but that didn't work, darn it. I'm certainly not going to cut them down for not giving me something they weren't obligated to.) Highly recommended. I use it as my security blanket, convenient to use while I'm walking, but vital if I'm going to stand somewhere for a few minutes as it can help me steady myself.

Great stick - but not very straight
The stick is well made and very sturdy. Its natural look will meet my needs perfectly, except I am VERY disappointed that there were several bends in it. It did not even come close to any photographic images present here on Amazon. I can live with one or maybe two small ones -- not like this. It looks like a second. It was shipped to me fast, so, if there is time, I think I will order another to compare and return the worst of the two. My time is tight, so I decided to not go thru the exchange process... I did order the second one. It was far straighter, but with more knots and a rougher finish. This is okay as plan on doing some conversion work on it. So, I am sending the first one back for a refund. If you get one of these, plan on possibly needing to return/exchange it for a different one.

Sadly, my stick was not as heavy-duty as might be desired. After some delay in receiving it, plus a further delay in UK Customs, I took the stick out as part of my work on the fells of the English Lake District. I attach a photograph that I took of the tip of the stick after barely one week of receipt and only five uses outdoors. I have used superglue to fix the thing and note that the advertisement for the stick suggests it is made from Huangtang wood, whereas the literature with the stick itself talks about hard pine. Botanically, I thought that all pine was softwood. That said, some softwoods can be functionally hard, and some hardwoods can be functionally soft. I will leave it to you to decide if what has happened to my stick is acceptable, so soon after receipt.

The Walking Stick was better than expected. It is nicely finished showing all the natural beauty of the wood. As you can see in the photo I added a paracord grip.
