Review after 3 month of using - DXT fights and win the CTS
I work in IT since 1999, while at the beginning we can do a lot without mouse but only with keyboard (using hotkeys and tab) - now with modern Windows OS and apps UI design changes too often and totally degraded and unavailable to work with PC only using kb - sad but we Have to use mouse very often to click and move. Last year I began to feel pain in wrist, I noticed that the pain went away if I not use mouse at weekend. So after a couple of month I solved that this is true and I have symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome already. I can not deny using computer mouse because IT is my job, so I started to find a solution. I heard earlier about vertical mouses, but old models was big and I did not believed that I can move that big mice all 8h. So searching web I found this new DXT mouse, watched video and I bought 2 of them - for job and home usage. I feel better after first 3 days of using and after 3 month I can say - this is great device ! No more pain, I can work on job, play at home without doubt. The cord is not so soft and long - but this is not so terrible. Thank you CityErgonomics!

Excellent
I wrote this a year or more ago but have a question. I might be getting a new 2021 Mac and it doesn't appear to have any USB ports which seems slightly bonkers. Is there any way I can adapt my DXT mouse to work with it? It's such a nuisance but I can't manage without my marvellous DXT mouse and it's relatively new!I bought one of these about 6 years ago but it became patchy due to continuous use. Tried for a few weeks to adapt back to a conventional mouse but once again had pains in my wrist and hand so splashed out on this one again. Can't fault it. Takes a day or two to get used to it but worth the money if, like me, when you're using a conventional mouse you end up resting your wrist on the edge of your desk so that it causes a host of issues. This mouse means your wrist doesn't make contact with the edge of the desk and the effort in moving the scroller bit is minimal too.

Updated 27/05/2024 - Good but potential quality issues
The only complaint I have is that the wire sometimes gets in the way of my hand and feels a bit flimsy, other than that no complaints.Updated 27/05/2024 below:So it's been about 4 years since purchase and there's several things, number one is that when left clicking it's started to sometimes register as a double click. I've used it every day about 8 hours a day so I've got plenty of use out of it but it's still slightly disappointing given the price of the mouse. Maybe it's a temporary issue and it'll resolve itself (I've given the exterior a clean which hasn't affected anything one way or another).Next is that the mouse's main claim to fame of using a light, pencil grip while other vertical mice require a full hand pinch grip is accurate. I don't know if it's a huge improvement over using your hand but it's definitely not a detriment and allows precise movements when you get used to using your fingers instead moving your entire wrist/arm. Pro tip, on the bottom of the mouse there's 4 rubber buttons for grip. They might have a thin plastic film you're supposed to peel off that might be making things too slidey for you.All in all, it's good but not sure if it's worth the price, especially considering if I'm just unlucky to get one that didn't last as long as I hoped. You're mostly paying for the form factor rather than any extra features like extra buttons etc. Definitely worth a purchase if you can get it on a discount or used so the lifespan doesn't matter as much, the new DXT 3 version might be worth a look.

Really helps with RSI
The vertical position of the hand is really good for someone suffering from RSI brought on by using a normal mouse. It takes a little time to get used to the mouse, but not very long, because it seems quite intuitive (you move your hand the same way as when holding a pencil). It is really easy to switch between left and right hand (just click a button on the mouse), which is very useful.I have RSI in both wrists and couldn't use a normal mouse for more than 5 minutes without feeling pain, but I can use this mouse for several hours a day without problems. The mouse is expensive, but if you use your computer a lot, it is definitely worth it.Clicking the buttons on the mouse, however, requires the same force as for a normal mouse.

Higly recommended. A travel size vertical mouse and ambidextrous at that!
A highly competitive product. The only ambidextrous vertical mouse I have encountered and - for my recurrent RSI issues - a better design than the others I have tried. Lightweight and small enough to travel well with a laptop. I have wrist issues on both sides so the ability to switch mouse hands (or let tech support use the mouse right-handed) is very useful. While the casing materials quality is less robust than many expect for a mouse at this price, this is a UK created product for a niche market and so doesn't have a large production run for huge economies of scale. It has survived several drops and a lot of travel in the last few weeks.Higly recommended.

Beware doesnt last long
seemed ok to start with however i did not find it reduced wrist strain. More to the point 10 months and a week after getting it it stopped working. Now in a budget priced mouse this might not have bothered me so much but with what i paid for this it is appalling

Works better than most if you have limited use of your hands.
the mouse has very sensitive controls and it is a joy to work with when you get used to it.

Works for me
You still have to make sure your seating position is correct otherwise this is not going to work and this mouse alone not going to improve anything. I expected to feel the difference straight away but I didn't. I persevered though and it paid off. My neck and elbow pain subsided and I'm now getting this mouse for work as this little plastic thing has made a huge difference. Four stars for the price- not sure why it's so expensive...

Most comfortable mouse ever
It's worth of money I paid. Most comfortable mouse and easy to use. I don't get my fingers soaring from regular mouse use any more . Strongly recommend

Extremely comfortable vertical mouse with a unique twist.
There are a number of blobby ergonomic mice that reduce pronation of the wrist. This unique, ambidextrous mouse has a smaller footprint, is comfortable for a wider range of hand sizes, and has a unique benefit in terms of accuracy and ease of adaptation. The biggest difference with the Kinesis DXT-2, is the way you naturally grip it. You hold it gently and naturally between your fingers, and the parallel faces ensure that there's no tendency for it to squirt out from between your fingers. It's hard to explain, but another difference from the vertical "blob mice" I've tried, is that while you move the mouse with your whole hand, there's a sense that pointing is more natural. It some ways, it feels like a perfect middle ground between a mouse and a stylus. This mouse seems to disappear in my hand. Because it doesn't fill out the palm of my hand, it doesn't feel clammy or sweaty on hot days. The only slightly odd design choice, is that the scroll wheel is mounted a little lower than expected. Even this aspect shows attention to ergonomics- it can be operated with either the index or middle finger, and actually encourages you to relax your hand slightly when scrolling, giving your hand a break from the normal position.More on ambidextrous use: there's a prominent button at the base of the thumb side of the mouse. It's tucked away to prevent accidental activation, but a single click converts it from left to right-hand use. I didn't expect to get much use out of this, but I find that it helps to reduce stress on both hands and wrists. As a dedicated leftie, I find it difficult to use a normal mouse with my wrong hand. However, the Kinesis feels surprisingly natural on either side of the keyboard. This is the second-generation version, and the benefits include a uniquely soft, smooth feel. It doesn't feel sticky like some rubberized mice, and glides between your thumb and fingers without feeling like it's going to slip out of your grip. The DXT-2 is also a little larger than the original. In my opinion, only someone with extremely small hands would prefer the previous model.A small button underneath offers 4 different speeds, which is useful for adapting to different display sizes. However, I found the default (1500dpi, I think) perfect for both my 16" M1 MacBook Pro and my 32" 1440P desktop display.Although it's relatively compact and very light, the weighted base gives it a nice balance, and ensures that it doesn't tip over if you bump it while reaching for other items on your desk.YMMV, but for me, this is the perfect middle ground between a mouse and a stylus. My hand and wrist problems are completely gone.Only one thing remains to be seen at this point: My first-gen wireless model abruptly died after a little over a year. I chose the wired version this time, hoping that it will be more durable. That said, after trying other, inferior ergo mice, and considering the lower price, and I would probably buy this one again even if it turned out to be a little less durable!

Better than a normal mouse but takes a while getting used to
I am editing this review after several months. I was not at all satisfied with the product design. I have long fingers and tried getting used to it for nearly two weeks in the beginning with all manner possible, but of no use. Maybe it depends upon person to person as it is boasted to be the best ergonomic mouse. You will never know unless you try it out.Recently I felt strain on my wrist growing and decided to give it another try. I forced myself to get used to it by unplugging any other pointing device from my computer. It has been nearly half a month I am using it to do my work. It took me a while to get used to and achieve my normal working speed but I think it does help and is better than usual mouse.

DXT DXT02 Precision V2 Ergonomic Vertical Maus (2000 dpi, 2m, USB)
