Q: Will this get a good grip on the large 2" ice cubes made by the Oxo Large Cube silicone tray?

YES. The metal tongs have sharp teeth which will grip the ice easily and they open plenty wide to handle large cubes. Very good product and a good price.

Q: Could this tong be kept in the freezer with the ice?

I have done it and it didn't cause a problem. Not sure how it would be in the long term because there is rubber covering at the point where your hands hold it and on a couple of other places, so perhaps the rubber might crack. But that didn't happen when I kept it in the freezer for several days. Even if the rubber does crack, it won't impair the way the tongs work, you just might get cold fingers.

Q: Is this item easy to use?

Yes, easy to lock, unlock, and grip ice. I use it to grab ice to treat a wrist injury.

Q: How wide do these open?

These are great tongs that open to about 2 and 3/4” wide. Just perfect to pick up about 3 regular sized ice cubes. You’d be able to pick up at least 6 small ice cubes as the rings have slotted teeth which holds the cubes securely until you release them into a glass. I’ve had my pair at least three years and they work perfectly every time.
