Little Gem of a find
I am writing about the Medium roast (Ethiopian Blend). I do like my coffee to have a little fight in it, and this guy does it as a 6 oz cup. As an 8 oz brew I would call it a light-ish Medium. You can do 8 oz and strong and you get a little closer to a medium-dark. Just my experience with it. At about $16 for 56, you cant beat the value. I took a dozen to the office to pass around to share my find. Everybody has reported back that they placed an order. So glad I took a chance. Just in case it is a sale price, I bought 4 more. I now have a nice stash of this wonderful, Gem of a Find!!

Up there with the best pod coffees...
I am drinking a cup of this right now. LOL.There are many types of Keurig coffee pods. Some are absolutely abominable. LOL. Green Acres coffee (from the sitcom if you have not seen it). I have reviewed some of those coffees, and they are not palatable without a generous dose of cream and sugar.I drink coffee black. If it isn't good, it is nasty.i lump (pun intended) coffee into three groups. Gourmet/Excellent (fresh beans, some very expensive), Good (some Keurig pods, some beans, very few canned coffees make the good grade), and finally, Cream and Sugar Only (most canned, many Keurig pods, stale coffee). The best Keurig coffee is in the good grade, and has aroma when it is made. Starbucks. Pete's and Newman's Own are examples of brands that have pleasant coffee aroma when brewing. Most do not. They may have some smell, but no coffee aroma. This coffee passed the aroma test!! That is RARE. You can smell it brewing and it smells like coffee should. No Keurig Pod is excellent or gourmet. There are limitations on what can be done. Newman's own is the best in my opinion, but this is so close in quality, I would not rank it any lower, because it would just be a personal taste preference. The worst quality for any coffee is a sour flavor. Coffee is unacceptable is if it is sour. About 3/4 of coffee in pods and about 7/8 of ground coffee in cans is sour. It is stale, has little brewing aroma and has a distinctly sour taste on the palette. That is cream and sugar coffee. Nonetheless, some Keurig pod coffee can rank at the high end of the good category, but they are rare.Newman's, IMO, is best, and I rank it as a 10 for Keurig pods. This brand is in that category, and I would rank it a solid 10 Starbucks is a solid 8-9. Pete's an 8-9. This coffee is smooth, not bitter or sour, and relatively mid range in flavor. It bills itself as Sumatra, which is usually a very strong grind, and this is not all that strong. But it is smooth and has a very pleasant coffee taste.I am tough when I rank a coffee, and this is excellent for a pod. It is good black. It has good coffee aroma. It is fresh. On a one to ten scale for Keurig Pods, it is a 10, so on a 1 to 5 scale, this is a five out of five along with Newman's, Pete's and Starbucks. It is smoother than the Pete's or Starbucks' pods (which are more bitter in flavor) in my opinion and that gives it the edge.Try Newman's though. They do something different. Even their medium grinds are among the best of the Keurig Pods and very consistent.

My personal favorite Sumatran is not this, but it may well be your favorite.
This makes a good cup of coffee. It's more tame and somewhat less complex when compared to Starbucks' Sumatra, and I use that comparison because if you are interested in Sumatran coffee, then you may well have had Starbucks' at some point as I have. The reason for four stars is that I like it but don't "love" it as I would the best coffee I've ever had. It's good, and good means good, but for me it's not totally great. It's also a bit pricey when compared to other premium K-cups like Caribou, and even Starbucks. But coffee is such an individual taste that I do not doubt that there are people who will find that this is their perfect coffee. I would just try to find a smaller amount to buy first in order to sample it.

GREAT Coffee!!
So ... I was not paying attention when I selected this item and I did not realize I was getting K-cups. But guess what!? You can slice open K-cups and put the coffee into your regular coffee maker! Thank goodness for foil. :) I brought this coffee to work with me because my company provides Folgers and Folgers is ...... Well, it's Folgers. Suffice it to say we like something different when we can get it. This coffee has been a huge hit in my office! We have a lot of coffee drinkers here and I have been asked numerous times over the last two weeks if I can PLEASE MAKE ONE MORE POT! We're almost to the bottom of the box and some of us are really sad about it. This coffee is bold and smooth, and tastes terrific with just some half-and-half (I don't sweeten my coffee, and since this coffee is so smooth, I don't think sweetener is necessary). I've been thinking about asking my coworkers for donations toward buying more of this coffee, and I have a feeling my fundraiser will be a success if I put it out there.

Rootstock Coffee 56 Count
I just bought my first single-brew coffee maker. It's not a Keurig but a Hamilton Beach. So I'm new to the k-cup scene.Hubby and I use Folger's at home in a regular coffee maker. I do have a reusable k-cup so I used Folgers. Good result--not spectacular but good. I tried Dunkin' Donuts--again good but not great. Starbucks is too bitter so I never use them. I was content with my Folgers until this. Thanks Rootstock. I'm now a coffee snob. I've started skipping my morning Folgers coffee with hubby and rely strictly on Rootstock. Even to my untrained palate, it's a superior brew. Smooth, rich and you can taste the coffee instead of the roasting, if that makes sense.

A Little Too Bitter
My husband loves a rich brew, and typically drinks his coffee black. So, he was excited about this Sumatran roast. But, when he tried it, he was struck immediately by the bitterness. It seemed to overtake what he expected to be a great brew. As much as he typically prefers his coffee black, this one definitely required the addition of creamer. Once he added that touch, he was able to enjoy the coffee and work through it. But if he really wanted just a good, straight-up cup of coffee, he had to make sure he had something else on hand to drink instead.
