Set your phone to the 2G router option before connecting.
These plugs are awesome and the setup is super easy...the only thing to beware of is that they have to be set up on your internets 2G line only (set your smart phone to the same 2G hookup to get them connected and then you can go back to 5G if that was your previous choice.

USB is on all the time, bought this specifically to schedule the USB port but no luck.

I have a 2g/5g router. Not able to specify which network for items to connect. This device failed setup four times. My guess is that it cant connect to my 2g

Works fine. Great price. The added USB port is great for a USB powered IP cam. Instructions probably should say to hold down power button as soon as u plug it in (until it starts blinking rapidly) to make it detectable by the app.
