VERSION CONFUSIONOK, I ordered two versions of this product: an inline plug and socket set (for connecting two cables together) and a plug and back mount set (for connecting a cable to a junction box). Some time later I realised I had been sent two inline sets, no back mount set. The back mount set has a different seal and nut on one end to seal the cable entry into the junction box.So a warning: when you order, check the pictures in the product listing to make sure you're ordering the version you want! Don't just rely on the text description as they don't always agree!.WHAT IS IT FOR?OK, I ordered two versions of this product: an inline socket set (for connecting two cables together) and a plug and back mount set (for connecting a cable to a junction box). Some time later I realised I had been sent two inline sets. This review is for the inline set.This is a fairly small inline waterproof plug-and-socket set, rated at 250V, 5A. Despite this rating, it must NOT be used for mains electricity; everything is so small and close together, and 240V AC has a peak voltage of around 311V (its 240V RMS i.e. 240V is the average voltage). And I'm not that good with a soldering iron! I will be using it for outdoor low voltage (5-12V) lights.It is designed for cable with a circular cross-section that is 4.5-6mm in diameter. That's fairly thin, so you're not going to get wires with significant current capacity in there anyway.It has solder buckets (not screw terminals) for the wires, so you will need some soldering skills to wire it up.A typical application would be to provide a low voltage supply to a device such as an outdoor light or a pond pump.HINT: Elecbee sells similar 2-pin and 1-pin products with higher ratings.IN THE BAG* A 3-pin waterproof male connector* A 3-pin waterproof female connector with a waterproof capINSTALLINGThe process of wiring up the connectors is simple enough, but does require a fine soldering iron, good eyesight, and some skill with a soldering iron. I struggled; good luck!1: Dismantle the connectors: Remove the blue nuts from each end, them unscrew the barrels. You should have six parts now (see photo)2: Slip the nuts and barrels onto your cables3: Strip the ends of your cables and tin the wires4: Optional: slip insulation sleeves onto the wires5: Cut the tinned wires to length6: Fill the first solder bucket with solder and immediately poke the appropriate wire into it7: Once the solder has solidified, repeat for the other two pins (solder buckets)8: Check your soldering: remove any stray solder, fix any dry joints9: Optional: slide the insulation sleeves over the contacts10: Screw the barrels back onto the connectors, then screw the blue nuts down to complete the seal11: Test continuity and insulation using a multimeter before connecting to a power sourceI took lots of photos. Ended up using just two of the pins, to connect a USB-A flying lead one end and (eventually) a set of dead solar lights the other. (I wonder if it will work?)WARNING: If you are using this for AC (I would not), be very careful with your insulation and take care to wire the pins correctly: L to L, N to N and E to E.USINGThese connectors are very nicely made, are keyed and fit together easily, with nice knurled nuts (fun saying that) that you just need to tighten by hand.BEST BITS+ Nicely made - as you'd expect; they're aviation-grade+ Small and neat+ Waterproof as it gets - IP68+ Includes a waterproof cap for the female plug to keep it dry when disconnectedWORST BITS- Everything is so small, making soldering very challenging- No waterproof cap for the male plug- Not suitable for mains voltages- Some confusion about inline vs back mount versions, in the product listingsCONCLUSIONNeat waterproof connectors for small gauge wiring, low voltages and currents. Soldering skills definitely needed. Perfect for that fairly small market. Five stars

This is a well made easy to use 3 pin connector. I used it to wire in an outdoor light, so being water proof was essential. The cables fitted securely and without too much fuss.

Leur étanchéité est idéale pour une utilisation en extérieur, et le couvercle assure une bonne protection. Faciles à connecter, ces connecteurs sont très pratiques pour mes projets de décoration.
