Relaxed Coastal Style

This is a great book with beautiful photos of understated rooms that are accessible to anyone. These are homes that real people live in, most decorated by the inhabitants, and many on a budget. Not a kitschy photo in sight. I'll return to this book again and again for inspiration and relaxation.

I wanted to give it more stars because it really is a beautiful book. However many of the pages were blurry. And since it is a book that you want to see the beautiful pictures, that just doesn't cut it. I'm not sure if you can tell by the pictures but they are blurry on these pages.

I'm fortunate to live by the sea in a period Edwardian house. However, I'm moving up the coast to a downsized property, which although only 300 yds from the beach, is a modern house, hence my interest in this book.Plus points of this book - inspiring pictures in beautiful coastal homes and settings. All houses featured are character costal properties, the ones you see featured in glossy magazines, and the ones most of will never be able to afford.Downside of this book is it doesn't do ordinary - there's no makeovers of drab, uninspiring modern houses, which many of us now live in and buy. Even those of us who live by the seaside or in coastal areas.While yes, we can all make our drab homes more coastal and relaxed by using the colours/patterns and furnising ideas presented in this book, why didn't we see at least one on-character property turned into something coastal and beautiful?That's my gripe - this book is predictable, but not necessarily inspiring. And a minor gripe is the double page spreads given entirely to coastal scenery. I wanted interior/exterior ideas for my home, not simply pictures of a beach/seascape.A useful book to browse for ideas, but could have been much much more.

This is a beautiful book, filled with wonderfully creative, inspiring images. I love flicking through it and just taking in that perfect colour palette of soft blue, cream, ochre and white. So relaxing and dreamy. I was very happy and surprised to see homes from Port Isaac and North Norfolk included; two of my favourite places (either would be my perfect retirement choice).Oh .... and I must mention the quality feel of this book; it has been beautifully produced.Would definitely recommend!

Beautifully written and presented book and makes a change from some of the glossy interiors in other books. These interiors look comfortable and achievable.
