Great start to watercolour, also good for reviewing technique
I bought this book for practice when I started watercolour classes and it is one of the best books on watercolour I have bought. In the introduction Emma Block explains the difference between cool and warm primary colours, which helped explain the strange sludgy purples I used to mix. All the techniques are covered and I found that the instructions were not hard to follow. Plus I love the way she paints trees as I am one of those people who believe that I should have every individual leaf on paper.

Perfect introduction
This book is the perfect introduction to watercolours for beginners or those feeling rusty (like myself!).The format is essentially a masterclass - step-by-step how to recreate one of Emma's beautiful pictures. This is a great way to learn watercolour techniques and methods in practise, especially for those that enjoy learning by "doing" rather than learning instructions then applying them. Also a great confidence booster, as it's so satisfying creating beautiful looking art!Definitely recommend.

Wonderful book
As a complete beginner with no experience this book is just what I was looking for. It is full of colour and different stages, a really helpful guide. I have managed to produce so pleasing pictures, I would buy from this author again. So impressed that I bought this again along with some paints to give as presents.

Great step by step instructions for beginners
I have recently (like a month ago) started painting for the first time in my life. I bought a book on botanical watercolour painting, but that was definitely for experts haha. This book is more for beginners, with paintings you can replicate yourself, and step by step instructions on how to do this.Brilliant really. Not for intermediate users though. Way too simple.I see the author has another book on gouache, which I plan on getting. Might as well try that too. What else can I do in lockdown!

Brilliant book for beginners and those needing a refresher!
I've always struggled with watercolours when it comes to painting (even though I'm generally pretty good with other mediums) but this book has been such a help! Emma gives such a great explanation about all the techniques and the projects throughout the book are brilliant. I couldn't believe what I was actually able to produce following the instructions, they looked almost identical to the ones in the book! I've been doing my own thing with watercolours for a while now but often refer back to this book for some ideas. My sister has been using it whilst we've been on lockdown and has found it so relaxing doing some painting. I highly recommend this book!

Perfect for beginners!
As a true beginner I wanted an accessible book so that I wouldn't give up right away. And this book will not disappoint! Even if you can't draw, like me, this is actually very doable. Okay, it might take a bit longer (at least for me), but it's mostly fun to do. And the more you practice, the easier it will become.I will definitely be buying the sequel!
