Living with Crohn's & Colitis: A Comprehensive Naturopathic Guide for Complete Digestive Wellness

Excellent Book, Highly Recommend
I bought this book based on people's review of it. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to understand more about Chrohn's or Colitis. It actually explains the science behind these diseases and gives you a better understanding of WHAT is going on in your body and WHY. This is stuff your doctor doesn't necessarily take the time to explain. I found it very insightful and informative, feeling more empowered after reading this book. There is information about different forms of treatment/changes in lifestyle, but you can take that part with a grain of salt--the majority of the book is extremely helpful in getting a better understanding of what is happening inside your body with these diseases.

Great resource
Book really helped in understanding what is going on. The diet really helped some of thethings mentioned in the book are abit too expensive for me so I can't really say if they work or not. But good book over all. EAT LOTS OF HONEY ,PLAIN GREEK YOGURT WITH LIVE ACTIVE CULTURES, STAY AWAY FROM SOY MILK , SALMON , WHITE RICE,CHICKEN, AND ADD HONEY TO EVERYTHING. This is what worked for me colitis seems a-lot better was able to have tri tip last week with out a problem. I do continue to take the asachol but no more steroids.

not as helpful as i'd hoped
I'm not sure what it is about this book, but i was disappointed in it. It seemed like it was going to offer a lot of information that was different from the conventional advice. I think I need to keep reading it. I think I don't care for the writing style and that makes it harder to get what I need out of it.

very helpful
It was a good solid beginning to learn that others have managed their disease without drugs eventually. The book after this one that I have found extremely useful was Listen to your Gut by Jini Patel Thompson.

A very good book you should have
Not only if you are diagnosed! Use its knowledge and ideas for usual life. If you are diagnosed use this book to understand your body, functions and understand how to go on. Maybe a nook is more American focused in Europe we are different in diets but the book is excellent anyway. Good job done.

Great Crohn's guide
What I liked about the book was the personal aspect of the Crohn's patient mixed in with naturopathic protocol. I too have had my Crohn's disease healed by naturopathic medicine so when I found this book, I was excited to read it. The great points to the book was that there was a lot of explanation of what to do's/not to do's, on nutrition, stress management etc. What I didn't like was that it was about an older woman that I could not familiarize myself with (I was diagnosed at 21) so our circumstances were definitely not the same (i pictured her as a rich, stressed out californian woman in her 50s who could afford to have tests done, take the supplements, take time off work.. ). So I focused on the naturopathic aspect and its a great reference for me when I'm feeling lost in the healing process!
