Good quality ribbon but not for crochet
This raffia ribbon seems strong enough to be able to make into something durable. The color purple is very beautiful too, a great supply for making Halloween crafts. Was intended to use it as yarn for crocheting but turns out it's too stiff for this purpose even with large hooks. Took forever to even complete a round. I would be extremely amazed by those who are able to crochet a project with this raffia ribbon.

It's not raffia
This product is paper. When it gets wet it tears and falls apart. It doesn't lend itself to tying knots--it looks bulky, and as I said previously, it will tear as you tighten it to tie a knot.

Crochets up well
I only recently (about 3 weeks ago) started crocheting with raffia, so this is not something I have a lot of experience with. I've been making a hat, and that has been fun. It isn't something I can work on for long at a time, as it is pretty hard on my hands. But I'm nearly through, and was planning to use this raffia to make a hatband for it.It occurred to me that I really should try crocheting with this for the review, though, so I did up a quick magic circle and did a couple of rounds, using a 4.5 mm hook, which is what my hat pattern calls for. This crochets well, now that I have a clue how to hold the paper. It does take a little different grip than actual yarn does. A big thing is to be really careful when doing crazy stuff like tightening up that magic ring. Pulling on it too much will tear the paper. I think I got it pulled fairly tightly, but you have to be gentle! Also, it is a good idea to kind of finger block it after each round, stretching and molding the "fabric" as you go.I'm pleased with this raffia!

Very nice green
What can I say here really? This is a nice spool of raffia that I ordered in a lovely shade of green. The raffia visually appears to be of good quality, although I have not actually used any yet. I plan to use this for crafts. I will be making a basket or two out of it and possibly using it in other crafts. I have used raffia before that didn't seem of this high quality. However, given the natural and rustic look that many crafts persons choose to achieve by using raffia, I likely wouldn't be too upset if the quality was a little lower. This raffia, and it's nice quality do seem to be well worth the asking price, though, and I would recommend it to anyone considering it's purchase.
