It works perfectly. It is nice how it swings both ways. I think it is well worth its value but it takes some time to install it. You have to know a little bit about installing the right kind of anchor in you wall.

I didn't think it would be possible to mount a gate at my basement steps without damaging the banister but my kid being a menace forced me to really try to find a solution. I was just going to drill into it when I found this and it's a brilliant solution. This combined with a baby gate with sliding cat door are a total game changer and I finally feel safe with my kid nearby and we can take it out with no damage.Works perfectly, cheap and simple to use. Great idea.

Easy to mount to banister post so I could mount a gate on stairs. Saving me from drilling mounting holes for the gate. I can move it if need be.

Bought this to help mount a baby gate between two newel posts. I watched the two videos that said how well it works, how good the instructions are, and how easy it is to install. Now I'm not a construction genius, but I've put a few things together in my 70+ years, and I can say that the instructions are NOT clear, and that it is NOT easy to install. The ratchet straps--really good idea--are too long to tighten effectively unless your posts are really fat. I ended up buying a couple of velcro straps that are much more adjustable and effective.

I have a lot of stairs in my home that will require baby gates but I did not want to drill into the banisters. I love that these came in pairs and the quality is fantastic! I also appreciate that multiple connectors are included so that I can mix and match as needed depending on my banister style.

It is perfect for any gate type.
