I felt like I went out on a limb buying this after reading the mixed reviews but I'm glad I did. I wanted to transfer recordings of my Father's and Grandfather's (as well as others) preaching from cassette to MP3. I read the instructions and followed them exactly and it worked perfectly. Some of the snags that may have caused others an issue. Recording volume is adjustable so you may have to test it a couple times till you find a good level for the cassette you are recording (mine worked by listening to it at a loud but comfortable level and leaving it there for recording). There is a power selection switch, I kept it simple here after hearing about batteries running down and just used USB power with the switch in the proper position. I imagine that if you didn't have adequate USB power source (using a very old USB charger) this could cause an issue as well. I used the powered USB on my computer and it worked just fine. Quality of recording I though was excellent but again, I was only recording spoken voice, and that from some old old tapes, not music. Overall I am VERY please with this little recorder!!

Great product! I bought it after my friend made me some mixtapes and it works wonderfully. I hooked up an aux cable to my car stereo and attached this player and now I use it to listen to cassettes in the car. I also used it to transfer some mixtapes to a flash drive and its autodetect feature is awesome and separated the songs on the tapes perfectly. I am really pleased with this purchase and use it all the time.

A friend had one and was very happy. It is simple to use and it is getting the job done (converting 9 cassettes of interviews of my late parents to MP3) but I constantly have to disconnect all connection (as suggested in the troubleshooting instructions) and connect again in order to get it to record. A couple of times, I also heard a previous interview along with the one I was recording! Wrote the previous several days ago and now I'm adding to it. I purchased the device to convert 9 cassette tapes of interviews with my now-deceased parents. I detected some issues with chopping milliseconds off the sound and making me wonder if I heard them right. I have since tried converting music that I put on cassette from LP years ago. The issues were much more noticeable, presumably because beats were skewed. I used the USB power option so it has nothing to do with batteries. I also listened to the cassette play WHILE recording/converting to MP3. The cassette played smoothly with a steady beat. The MP3 version, however, is skewed, apparently losing something in the conversion. This makes the device undesirable for converting interviews on cassette, and worthless for converting music on cassette.

This is a great little cassette player/recorder. I love the set up with USB transfer as I am not a techie and this works for me. I had a bunch of old cassettes and was worried about when they break how to replace them, now I can just transfer to USB and download or listen via that method. My Chromebook does not have a cd slot so can't convert to CD. LOVE it.

Is kind of a crude transport and has a tendency to wrap tape around the capstan when listening to C-90 and longer cassettes. I cannot accept it destroying the tape (3 the first session) so I only use it for C-60 and shorter cassettes. Will have to look for a better quality transport for thinner tapes if I cannot work around the problem. Clean the capstan and pinch roller often with alcohol swab to keep goo from splices from grabbing tape on capstan or pinch roller.

I can convert my tapes to mps format or just listen to them. I am truly pleased.

Received this yesterday. I can say it works, easy to operate. I was happy to back up a tape my mother made for her dying brother. As my mother passed away a few years after he did. I was worried her bible teachings would all be lost. If anything changes within the next few uses I will update my review.

This is a great way to convert the music from my old cassettes to mp3!
