I feel like I've tried all the primers and, for what its worth, I've always gone back to my old trusty standby: Monstat Anti-Chaffing gel powder. For $6 you can't beat it. This primer however is an all together different creature. I tried this because its silicone free, and I've always thought it might behoove me to find a silicone free option for a variety of reasons, but I've never been impressed by one. This however is impressive!This glides on and it is cold feeling, which is strangely soothing and calming to the skin. It's a thick gel that glides across the skin with almost as much slip as a silicone, though not quite. I do have to use a tad bit more of this product to cover my face. I wash my hands and then apply my foundation, typically a sheer/medium or medium coverage liquid, but sometimes a powder version. This primer works well with every foundation I've tried it on. It gives them all a great amount of slip and hold at the same time; they blend well and they stay in place all day.This does not fill in pores and wrinkles as well as a thick silicone, but it comes very close. More important to me however is that my skin has been less congested, and had fewer issues with dryness and redness, since I switched to this a few months ago. I'm very pleased at the improvement I've seen in my 40+ year old skin. So pleased, in fact, that I've already purchased another tube of this as I simply do not want to be without it. I feel very confident that anyone would be happy with this, even at this price point!

You can tell the primer itself is matte by the look of it when you squeeze it out. Initial application a little wet and shiny, bit it absorbs well and delivers on the promise of hydration. It also has a delicious bergamot and citrus scent to it that I can't get enough of. When I run my fingers over my skin I feel the difference in using this product, but personally don't feel like it offers as much shine contol as I'm usually looking for in a mattifying or pore blurring product. Other products have delivered better on that front. It does leave a very smooth surface for makup application, though, and makes my makeup look great and stay fresh looking longer.

Originally I tried this product as a sample from my Ipsy Bag. Once the sample was all gone, I knew I had to find it! I absolutely LOVE the brand—Grown Alchemist—because every product I’ve tried has been fantastic. This one is probably my favorite of their lineup! It is smooth, and the consistency and application is very good. I’m still getting the hang of it, as it seems like it can be a little touchy with layering makeup/other cosmetic products—but it is one of the all time best primers I have ever used in my 30-some years on this planet!I found this listing on Amazon for a full-size tube, and was excited to replenish my supply of the GA primer.The package actually arrived (at least!) 2-4 days earlier than quoted, which is super cool! Yay! I know how much we all appreciate speedy shipping! That was impressive.The only thing I have reservations about with this order, is that upon arrival, I opened the mailer to find the product box totally smashed! Bummer! If I had purchased this to give as a gift, I would’ve been extremely frustrated and disappointed. Fortunately, it was a gift for myself, so the GA product box didn’t need to be perfect. The tube inside was unscathed, but the product box was smashed beyond repair.
