Good but not as good as Gallop Racer 2004
I am now 24 years old and have player all the previous incarnations of Gallop Racer. I must say that the 2004 version is still my favorite. This one (a mash up of G1 Jockey and Gallop Racer) just isn't as fun for me at least. The story line is annoying and the training/workout sessions are a bit difficult. The controls for this version are confusing and the whole on screen display while racing is also annoying. I also really miss the aspect of buying ones own horses to race and breed. Back in the 2004 version I really progressed fast and created some awesome horses. The steeplechase races are a good addition although it takes a while to fully understand the controls in that type of race. Overall I think they should have gone back to basics (mainly GR 2004 and older versions; I never liked the 2006 version).

Alright
I like this game, it's fun to play every once in a while. Things can get very repetative and boring if played too long.

great game!
I'm 23. and this is the first horse racing game for the wii.. I love it! i first played it on easy.. but i had 116 wins out of 120 in the first year.. sooo my advice.. play it on normal. seems more "real".. also ill have to agree the ps2 version in 2004 of gallop racer was a LOT better.. nice breeding and racing your own horses.. in this game you can only breed one a year.. the controls are easy once you get use to it.. i use "pro" because you have full control over the horses actions. its confusing at first.. only bad part -- the jumping races.. very hard to keep ON the horse.. i fell off every race so far haha!

A breath of fresh air
I got this for my nine year olds birthday. It was a slow start because she tried to play it without reading the directions and quickly became frustrated. The horse wasn't responding the way that it was supposed to. After scolding her and insisting I wasn't going to help her, it turns out that we didn't have any batteries in the balance board, oops. And the the rechargeables in the remote weren't charged enough. After she happily figured this out on her own, her momentum increased and she's been playing for about 2 hours now (hey it's a Friday). She takes riding lessons and isn't at galloping yet so this is a creative outlet for her. I asked her what she liked best about the game and she said the races and how the graphics were good. And what she liked least, and she said having to read the directions.lol. I'm sure this game has a lot more stimulating capabilities but it should last her a good while having to figure them all out. I consider this game a breath of fresh air because horse games in the States are crap. She's been through all of the girlie "Barbie" type horse games a couple of times. She'll play them, trade them in, miss them and have to re-buy them from GameStop. I know, waste of money(hers) but better to let her learn this now then when she's thirty. And I've only let her do that twice. Europe has awesome horse games based on what we've seen on You Tube. I wish we has access to those.

I liked it
The reason why I picked 4 stars is because it's fun. I like this game because you get to race on a race track and you can do practice mode and jump over fences while racing and you can breed horses and train it.. What I dislike about it is when other people are talking you can't hear them just the words come out of their mouths. I recommend this game to anyboby who loves horse racing.
