CAP Barbell Olympic Trap Bar, Various Styles

Thanks to others who reviewed this bar previously. I purchased a “used” neutral combo grip 75 # bar for $92 and free shipping. The packaging was not pretty but more than adequate and survived a cross country trip. The bar itself looked brand new and not used. Thank you Amazon! The chrome finish and welding on the bar is good. The 30 mm handles have aggressive knurling which I like. It is not for people with soft hands. If I ever lift extremely heavy weights I will use gloves. The 13” grooved sleeves conform precisely to Olympic diameter specs at 50 mm. The handles were welded straight, equidistant, and approximately 24.5” apart. The bar itself weighs 73 #. There is plenty of room for me at 6’0” 250 lbs inside the hex portion of the bar. The collars can easily fit 8 standard Olympic plates per side with larger collars which would weigh in at 793 # with the bar weight added. Not that I own that many plates or could lift that much. It is solid enough to handle it.The bar seems perfect for people like me with back issues who want to dead lift. It and can be used for other exercises like presses, benches, shrugs, and farmer’s walks to name a few. With a little ingenuity it could be used for dips. At $92 it was a great value during the pandemic. It is bomb proof and I will not come close to maxing it out with plates. I have gotten great workouts with it so far. The only drawback for some may be it’s 75 # weight as it is a heavy beast to maneuver. The weight was a positive for me because you don’t have to add as much if that makes any sense. I would buy it again, bars with equivalent features are several times the price.

This bar is awesome. I loaded it with 180 pounds and it has plenty of room and strength to take on more. The knurlibg is excellent, in fact it is so good that it’s really hard to go heavy without gloves. I didn’t want to wear gloves because of the negative connotation, so my hands are sore as heck. Great bar, great price. You can’t go wrong.

First, I highly suggest forking over the extra cash for the "Combo Neutal Grips ecom package" that weighs ~75 pounds. It is built like an absolute tank and will most likely survive longer than you will. Second, if you expect this bar to be a piece of art (like an Eleiko-branded anything) than you will be disappointed. Mine showed up beat to hell and back, but I'm totally ok with it because I was going to give it a beatdown anyway. Expect chipped paint and minor dings. This bar is the most heavy-duty fitness implement I've ever owned and is pretty much perfect for farmers walks/deadlifts. No complaints from me. I couldn't break this sucker if I tried.

I am not trying to bulk up nor compete in any fitness trials so this trap bar is just fine for maintaining muscle mass and improving personal fitness. I have 180-lbs on it and the bar handles this just fine without flexing or other issues. I am sure it could easily handle much more but I have no need to find out.I am a bit disappointed in the range of motion, however. The 'handles' for this trap bar are high and this extra 2-inches or so really is noticeable. I had been using a straight bar for old-fashion dead lifts but wanted a trap bar so I could just leave the weights on it and also walk with it. Not being able to squat down as deeply as I could with the straight bar is not as good for fitness but is is better than nothing and I can still, on occasion, remove the straight bar from the bench rack and do some quality dead lifts.I am using the trap bar for lifts and for walking. There is adequate space to easily walk with the bar+weights. It is not a professional bar but a professional would probably not be buying equipment from Amazon. It is, however, great for its intended use - light to moderate weight, safe to lift, exercises.

I ordered the larger bar (confirm with what description is displayed) to use with concrete plates which are a bit thicker than the ones at the gym, so I needed the extra sleeve space. The sleeves on the bigger one are about 13 inches, or enough to fit about 4-5 2-point-something inch concrete plates a side. The bars that make up the trap bar are plenty thick, and the whole thing weighed just about 70 lbs according to my scale.

This is absolutely brilliant for use when deadlifting. I took to it straightaway- the range of motion feels far more natural (and is safer with heavy weights) than mixed-grip deadlifting with a straight barbell. Couldn't be happier!(The packaging was decimated on one side, but thankfully the bar arrived in almost pristine condition.)

Hard not to give it 5 stars. It does its job. It is not overly expensive and can load well over 300 pounds with ease. Very easy to move around if needed. Packaging was a little oddly shaped, but nothing was overly damaged or scratched

Mine came in protective packaging. No damage on shipping. Weighs 50 lbs. The bar is symmetrical and balanced. Olympic weights fit snug but not difficult to put on. Range of motion is what you'd expect from a shrug bar. I use for both shrugs and squats. I can no longer do regular squats with the bar behind my neck due to a shoulder injury. This is a great solution. I went with the chrome bar based on other negative reviews about the black chipping off.

Disappointed with the item as it is missing a full set of handles (one on each side) as can be seen in the photo. The bar is good otherwise and is what you would expect from a hex bar. Impossible to give a good review on an item that is so clearly lacking a vital aspect, this removes one aspect of the capability/utility of the bar.
